Caritec Solution for Injection is indicated for prevention of postpartum bleeding due to uterine atony. This medicine is also used in nasal preparation used to promote milk letdown in lactating females.
This medicine is an analogue of a famous hormone called Caritec Solution for Injection is called- the love hormone due to its characteristic feature of affecting human behaviour and to induce empathy, love, generosity, sexual inclination and bonding in them.
This medicine actually increases calcium in the muscle cells that influence uterus contraction, hence it is actually used to help in causing contraction in the uterus thereby facilitating the delivery. Caritec Solution for Injection is also used to help mothers with breastfeeding and to stimulate milk production.
Caritec Solution for Injection is a safe medicine when used in the proper dosage. Some of the side effects of this medicine which are reported are increased blood pressure, increased or decreased heart rate, changes in uterine blood flow, nausea and vomiting, allergic reactions ranging from mild to severe, any rupture in the uterus.
Long term or systemic administration of Caritec Solution for Injection may result in impairment of memory retrieval process as well. This medicine shouldn’t be used if your birth canal is too narrow or small, or the fetus is in a difficult position in the wound and is in distress.
Caritec Solution for Injection is intended for use by experienced and qualified staff for obstetrics care.The use of Caritec Solution for Injection at any stage before delivery of the infant is not appropriate because its uterotonic activity persists for several hours. This is in marked contrast to the rapid reduction of effect observed after discontinuation of an Caritec Solution for Injection infusion.
In case of persistent uterine bleeding after administration of Caritec Solution for Injection, the cause must be determined. Consideration should be given to causes such as retained placental fragments, perineal, vaginal and cervix lacerations, inadequate emptying or repair of the uterus in case of caesarean section, or disorders of blood coagulation.
Caritec Solution for Injection is intended for single administration only, intramuscular or intravenous. In case of intravenous administration it must be administered slowly over 1 minute. In case of persisting uterine hypotonia or atony and the consequent excessive bleeding, additional therapy with another uterotonic should be considered. There is no data on additional doses of Caritec Solution for Injection or on the use of Caritec Solution for Injection following persisting uterine atony after Caritec Solution for Injection.

Like oxytocin, Caritec Solution for Injection selectively binds to oxytocin receptors in the smooth muscle of the uterus, stimulates rhythmic contractions of the uterus, increases the frequency of existing contractions, and raises the tone of the uterus musculature. On the postpartum uterus, Caritec Solution for Injection is capable of increasing the rate and force of spontaneous uterine contractions. The onset of uterine contraction following Caritec Solution for Injection is rapid after intravenous or intramuscular administration, with a firm contraction being obtained within 2 minutes.
