Tumour Panel (Male) (Thyrocare) Test

This panel consists of a few tests taken on men to find whether there are any signs of different types of Tumor/Cancer in them. Those tests are AFP, are performed to measure the levels of Alpha Feto Protein to detect Testicular cancer. BHCG, CA 19.9 is performed to measure levels of CA 19-9 to detect Pancreatic cancer, CEA is performed to detect Pancreatic cancer , FPSA is performed to detect Prostate cancer, PSA is also performed to detect Prostate cancer. All these tests are taken under this panel. Test reports will be given to the patients within 48 hours of the completion of the test.

No special preparation is required for these tests. Wearing a short sleeve or sleeveless shirt or T-shirt will be helpful for the technicians to draw blood from the veins. Inform your doctor if you are on any medications or have any underlying medical conditions or allergies before undergoing this test. Your doctor depending on your condition, will give specific instructions.

AFP (Alpha Fetoprotein) Test: This test is performed to detect Testicular cancer in men. BHCG (Beta Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) Test: This test is performed to detect Germ cell tumor in men. PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) Test: This test is performed to detect Prostate cancer . CEA (Carcino Embryonic Antigen)Test: This test is performed to detect Pancreatic cancer in men. CA19-9 Test: This test is performed to detect cancerous cells in Large intestine and rectum in men.

For the blood to be drawn, first, the area is cleansed with an antiseptic and tourniquet is placed around the upper arm for pressure. A needle is inserted into the vein and blood is drawn and collected in a vial. Now, the tourniquet is removed and the patient is provided with cotton balls to prevent further bleeding.
