Allergy - Parsley Test

Allergy - Parsley Test

also known as: Allergy Parsley Enzyme Assay

Parsley is an herb which is considered to be safe when it comes to allergic infection. However, if you are taking the herb and suffering from symptoms that lead to urinary tract infection, kidney stones, GI disorders, constipation, and intestinal gas and so on, then you may be allergic to the herb. To know the infection, you are required to have a parsley allergic test in which the IgE antibodies in your blood are tested to see if you are allergic or not. A skin prick test can also be suggested but only when you are showing allergy on your skin.

There are no special preparations required for the test. No fasting or diet plan changes are needed. You should tell your doctor about the different medical conditions that you have and various medicines that you are taking. Based on your information, the doctor will provide you some special instructions. These instructions should be considered essential and followed before the test. Since it is a blood test, one should take care of clothing on the day of the test. Loose full sleeve shirt, half-sleeve shirt, foldable full sleeve shirt/top and sleeve-less shirt should be chosen. It helps the doctor to take your blood easily.

As stated above, that the test will see if there are IgE antibodies present in your blood or not. The test will be positive if there are IgE antibodies (> 100kU/l) available in the blood. In such case, the doctor will see the severity of the allergy and start the treatment. The test will be negative if there are no IgE antibodies present in the blood. In the case of positive test, one should stop taking the herb or should take proper medicines on time.

A Fluorescence Assay method is used on the blood sample to see the IgE antibodies against the parsley antigens in your blood. First of all the skin and the needle is cleaned with the alcohol. Then an elastic band is wrapped around the upper part of your elbow to stop the blood flow and make the veins visible for injection. Then the needle is injected near your elbow once the veins are visible. The blood is then collected in the tube attached to the needle. Once enough blood is collected, the needle is ejected, and the sample is taken to the lab, with your name on the tube.
