About Progaba Gel
This is a combination medication which has Gabapentin and Lidocaine as active ingredients. It is a prescriptive drug primarily used to prevent seizures. This gel belongs to a class of drugs called anticonvulsants. Aside from seizures, Progaba Gel is also used to cure hot flashes, restless legs syndrome (RLS) and postherpetic neuralgia.
It treats nerve pain in adults by affecting the chemicals and nerve responsible for these pains and seizures. Before taking this medicine inform your doctor of the following conditions mentioned below:

How does this medication work?
This gel belongs to GABA analog. It works by binding to the calcium channels and increases the concentration of GABA and reduces the release of monoamine neurotransmitters, thus reduces the excitability of brain cells and helps to treat convulsions. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic and antiarrhythmic that works by stabilizing the neuronal membrane by blocking the voltage-gated sodium channels. This inhibits depolarization of the postsynaptic nerve that prevents the transmission of pain signals.
