Pregnancy occurs when a sperm fertilizes an egg after it is released from the ovary during ovulation. The fertilized egg then travels down into the uterus, where implantation occurs. Diagnosis of the same can be done at home through a home-pregnancy test. The gynaecologist would also suggest doing blood tests and urine tests followed with ultrasound to confirm the same.

A routine check up with a gynecologist is required for a healthy pregnancy and childbirth. Depending on the growth of the fetus and various medical conditions of the pregnant woman certain precautionary medications can be prescribed.
