Yoga During Pregnancy: Treatment, Procedure, Cost and Side Effects

How is the treatment done?

Besides several regulations, one undergoes while prevailing pregnancy, Yoga is no doubt one of an inevitable process. Amidst various necessities of Yoga in order to lead a healthy life, Yoga is extremely useful and beneficial for pregnant women. It is through the practice of Yoga that helps in proper circulation of breathe and help you relax to the fullest. Added to that, it helps to keep the body and mind calm, one of the prime necessity during pregnancy days.

However, on the other hand, retaining the shape of the body post pregnancy is a burning need for every woman nowadays. Yoga actively helps in maintaining the shape throughout the pregnancy and post days. Another huge benefit a woman receives from Yoga remains the protective realm that it creates and avoids the occurrence of symptoms like morning sickness, constipation, leg pains and cramps and swollen ankles.

By the way, you must not try practising poses at your home without a mentor or randomly woth no instructions. The utilities of yoga are only achieved during pregnancy when you maintain certain precautions in the process. There are several regulations you are supposed to follow while getting a good Yoga trainer should be your first step.

Who is eligible for the treatment? (When is the treatment done?)

On one hand, Yoga turns out to be extremely beneficial for pregnant women but calls for the necessity of following few strict restrictions on the other. There are several Yoga poses or asanas that are extremely vulnerable to risk for the child growing inside and should be avoided. Poses that are safe to practise during pregnancy are butterfly stretch, side angle pose, triangle pose, standing forward bend, cat-cow, cobra and seated forward bend. On the other hand, poses that should be avoided includes backbends, camel, upward blow, headstands, handstands, balancing of poses with one leg.

However, primarily you must get a mentor who will be liable to conduct the Yoga process according to your needs. It is advised not to perform any poses on your back because it leads to blockage of blood to the uterus. Poses that include abdominal stretches should be avoided.

While performing the cat stretch pose you should keep your spine flexible. This pose ensures proper circulation thus nourishing the reproductive organs of the body. Butterfly pose makes the delivery easy and avoids complications. On the other hand, triangle pose is extremely useful in reducing stress and back pain. Poses like Yogic sleep and corpse pose plays an active role in maintaining blood pressure, release stress and preparing the body for the delivery process.

Pregnant women should also practise humming bee breathe and alternate nostril breathing, an aid to better physical and mental health.

Who is not eligible for the treatment?

There is no such eligibility to practise Yoga. However, regulations are only for women undergoing pregnancy period.

Are there any side effects?

Women who are not expecting or experiencing pregnancy do not require restrictions to various poses. However, it is always advised to get a trainer who would guide you according to your health structure and also keep a track of steps in the process that may cause you harm.

What are the post-treatment guidelines?

Yoga does not have any side effects. It is known to be the best medium in order to lead a healthy life. Though Yoga is necessary for pregnant women, there remains few regulations and restrictions that the person needs to adhere to. This is because few poses may cause harm to the baby inside. Asanas that include abdominal stretch, backbends are very risky at this time. Avoid headstands and handstands, one leg balancing if you are pregnant.

How long does it take to recover?

Yoga during pregnancy is extremely beneficial considered that you must hire a certified trainer who will be responsible for guiding and suggesting you the poses most suitable in your case.

Are the results of the treatment permanent?

The cost remains entirely depends on the Yoga instructor and his remuneration.

What are the alternatives to the treatment?

The usefulness of Yoga stands beyond doubt. Practising Yoga during pregnancy under a proper trainer does not only keeps you physically healthy and stress-free but on the other hand remains equally beneficial for the life growing inside. Practising Yoga properly even reduces the risk and complications of birth and makes the process smooth.
