USG Scan - Foot Test

USG Scan for foot is called as Musculoskeletal ultrasonography. It is a very powerful diagnostic tool for the diagnosis of wide array of foot and ankle problems such tendinosis, tenosynovitis, paratendinitis, rupture, dislocation, ligaments that are commonly torn, plantar fasciitis, Morton's neuroma, stress fractures, and plantar plate injury. Sports and overuse injuries of the ankle and foot are common and ultrasound has been established as an excellent diagnostic modality for foot and ankle pathologies, providing a rapid, non invasive examination tool that is well tolerated by the patient with acute or chronic pain.

No preparation is needed for this test. Just make sure that you inform your doctor about any medications your are currently on. Also, tell the doctor about any medical condition if you have any. The doctor will make the necessary adjustments accordingly.

This test is performed to check tendinosis, tenosynovitis, paratendinitis, rupture, dislocation, ligaments that are commonly torn, plantar fasciitis, Morton's neuroma, stress fractures, and plantar plate injury. The patient is advised to take this scan when there is pain in their foot, reduced movement, a tear, some sort of discomfort, Inflammation near the foot area. To check whether Tumor is present, Or presence of some foreign bodies. Also to check for conditions of arthritis.

The Patient will be asked to remove their shoes and socks and will be advised to lie on the examination table. A radiologist applies gel in and around the patient’s feet area at first. Then, using a linear and high frequency probe covers the whole foot The patient will also be asked to move their feet during the scanning. After the whole area is covered, the gel is wiped off.
