What is Dhat syndrome? or Spontaneous semen emission?
During puberty the testis start growing and also secreting testosterone. Under the influence of gonadotrophic hormones, testis starts producing sperm.
Usually by the age of 17 - 20 yrs, since semen production starts, and is continuous, it needs to be evacuated. There is no storage space for semen except in the vas. So the initial prolific semen production with secretion from the seminal vesicles and prostate is evacuated without actual ejaculation. This continues for a few years until ejaculation occurs by masturbation or by having sex. Youngsters refer to this emission of semen as dhat. This is a harmless phenomenon and occurs in all males. Semen has no energy element in it. So loss of semen does not lead to any weakness or loss of body mass. It is all in the head.
