Most humans have three types of receptors that allow them to see in colour vision. However, some women have four or even five receptors, which allow them to see a wider range of colours than normal. This is only present in women as the red and green colour receptors, which allow a greater range of colour, are located in the female x chromosome; blue is stored in the y chromosome in men.
