About Surfact 108Mg Injection
Surfact 108Mg Injection is generally used to prevent respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) in premature babies. It is a surfactant, and it reduces the incidence of RDS in infants and the probability of infant mortality. It must be administered by physicians or clinicians who are experienced with intubation, ventilator management, and in general, the care of premature babies. It is meant only for intratracheal administration.
The recommended dose of Surfact 108Mg Injection is 5.8 mL per kg of the infant’s birth weight. There must be an interval of at least 6 hours between two consecutive doses. You must not give an infant more than 4 doses of this drug within the first 48 hours of its life. This medicine could cause changes in the lung capacity and oxygenation of the newly born baby, hence, you must ensure that the baby’s lung compliance is repeatedly tested so as to enable the doctors to modify the oxygen and ventilator support in accordance with the change in respiratory status of the infant. There are no contraindications to this medication. While no adverse effects have been reported in cases of overdose, you are advised to aspirate as much of Surfact 108Mg Injection as possible if ventilation, oxygenation or respiration is affected.
