MIRENA
- Mirena, an intrauterine device is known to contain levonorgestrel. Levonorgestrel is a female hormone used to change the uterine lines and cervical mucus. This makes it difficult for the sperm to reach the uterus and the fertilized eggs to be attached to the uterus. Mirena should be generally used by a woman who has at least one child. In case of a pelvic infection, or abnormal vaginal bleeding, one should not use Mirena. One should not sue Mirena if she is pregnant. Known side effects of this medicine are pelvic pain or severe cramps, migraine or severe headache, ongoing vaginal bleeding, weakness, bloating and breast tenderness.

If you use pills use newer low dose ones that cause less side effects like femilon or yaz. Alternatively you can get a mirena coil or implant fitted.

This may be a hormonal problem. Think about getting a hormone-releasing intrauterine device called Emily/Mirena inserted. It will regularise your hormones as well as act as a contraeptive.
