Laryngitis is the inflammation of the voice box or the larynx. This can happen due to overuse of the larynx or due to an infection. The condition can be short-lived or can be chronic. In most cases, the condition is temporary, caused by a viral infection and lasts for about a couple of weeks. Symptoms include hoarseness of voice, sore throat, dry cough, dry throat and tickling sensation in your throat.
HOW IS LARYNGITIS DIAGNOSED?
To diagnose Laryngitis, the General Physician/Ayurvedic Doctor/Homeopath visually checks the vocal cord and later, performs a laryngoscopy to magnify the voice box for easy viewing. In a severe case of Laryngitis, the doctor may conduct a biopsy to examine the severity of the disease.
HOW IS LARYNGITIS TREATED?
Treatment for laryngitis depends on the severity of infection and the cause of infection. For mild infections, simple home treatments would suffice. Medications like antibiotics and corticosteroids may help in bringing down infection
