you must continue your level of walking. But use a hinged knee cap and soft cushion sports shoes. Take a break after each 1km walk. Apply ice pack at the end. Your knee will be fine.

Hi, my father is suffering from a disease, doctors report says suggestive of mylomalecia. Few doctors are saying its better to get the surgery done however few others says that it should be treated with medicines as their would be chances of improvement. They say a surgery would lead to the present condition of my father remain as it is forever. We are confused as we don't have any option apart from trusting the doctors. Please guide me.

Thanks for your query on lybrate. Com. As your father is having a progressively deteriorating condition of spinal cord and nerves, it is reasonable to give him a chance to halt further damage by a good neurosurgeon.

Sir, thanks for your query on lybrate. There is new way of thinking for treating age related diseases like osteoarthritis. It requires holistic approach. In my knee clinic I advise lifestyle modification, use of knee cap for walking, regular home exercises for knee muscles and low dose medication. It gives 80% symptomatic relief.

You are having repetitive stress injury syndrome (rsd) which is bad working posture related. Look up for term called ergonomics and there is lot of info on changing of sitting and working pattern.

Madam you are describing a classic nerve pressure problem called lumbar canal stenosis in which part or whole of bunch of nerves in spine get compressed by a ruptured disc. The diagnosis requires mri scan and spine consultation.

Pain in knee of long duration in elderly age group is generally due to wear and tear in cartilage (osteoarthritis). Consult a knee specialist for xray checkup.

Sir, i am suffering from joint. Joint pains and swelling persist for about 1-2 years post viral infections like chikunguniya. There is no specific medicine for it. So rely more on exercises to prevent joint stiffness. Good news is it is self-remitting and will cure itself.
