Hello doctors My son 3.5 month old is not passing stool from last 3 days. Is it ok or need any medicine for this?

Postgraduate Programme in Pediatric Nutrition, Diploma in Pediatric Emergency Medicine, MRCPCH, MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Bangalore
Babies between 2-6 months often don't pass stool for up to 1 week. If stool is soft and baby is breast feeding, check for weight gain. If growth is normal, don't need to do anything further. Thanks.

The number of antigens covered are more in the expensive one. Hence it is more effective than the cheaper version.

Child weight is normal for the age, sucking fingers is a natural activity for young infants. Just relax nothing is wrong with child, continue breast feeding as usual.

Hi the baby is 20 days old. It's a girl baby after feeding the milk she will get vomit after 10 mins please suggest me for this.

MRCPCH, MBBS
Pediatrician, Gurgaon
First precaution include burping after each feed and holding upright for sometime, second is do demand feeding as overfeeding may be the concern. If continues then see your paediatrician to start medicine for the same to control that possible reflux. Tc.

Hi my baby 1 month old. Due to my age I think I am not generating enough milk. How can I increase my milk generation. What can I eat. Any medication.

Lactation Consultant, Childbirth Educator, MHA, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda, Delhi
There are actually no medications to increase milk. And milk generation is not related to age. The more the baby suckles, the more milk the breasts produce. Try to put the baby to breast more often. Using a breast pump to stimulate breasts would also help. But remember, each time you give formula feed to your baby, your milk production goes down.

Becoming Parents: An Emotional Journey

Becoming Parents: An Emotional Journey

The journey to parenthood begins long before the baby arrives, long before the expectant parents ever set eyes on the new life they have created. Being a parent is hard and exhausting, mentally, physically and emotionally. As a mother, one goes through a journey that encompasses huge changes to her body, her emotional state of mind, career, relationship with partner and her entire outlook on the world around her but, let's not forget the emotional impact on fathers too.

There is no, particular psychological pathway to parenthood as every couple's experience is shaped by a unique set of circumstances; their own childhood memories of their parents, observations of other parents and by the type of relationship they have with each other.

Being parents changes you: Becoming a parent changes two fundamental things: first, your perception about yourself, and secondly, it changes the nature of your relationship with your partner. You need to understand that you're no longer two independent adults but a team. You have to prioritize the needs of your child over and above your own needs. The sooner you realize and implement this in your life, the better you turn out as a parent.

Planning is essential: As an expectant couple, you need to plan and prepare, not to guarantee a result, but to open their minds to the vast enormities of the life changes that you are about to experience. This way you will be better prepared and equipped to cope with the challenges and situations that may come your way. You should try to imagine what your life will be like, after the baby arrives, realistically. The pregnancy period is an opportunity for both - the mother and the father, to run through a psychological rehearsal of "life after the birth of baby". Although it is, unrealistic and impractical for the expectant parents to think that, they can strategize for every conceivable scenario related to new parenthood, what so ever it may be, however, they can use the nine months of pregnancy to begin to reflect on how a baby will affect their relationship.

Hi my son is 9months old and his weight is only 6kg 300gms is it ok He is getting cold regularly what natural remedies I can use for curing his cold instead of giving medicines and do I need to take any special measures to increase his weight I give him normal rice in afternoon and baby food 3 times a day in and my milk in between please give required suggestion for my son.

MD - Homeopathy
Pediatrician, Mumbai
For a 9 month old child you need to give full family diet in semisolid consistency, less spicy and oily. Can give chapati, vegetables, rice n dal, khichdi, sheera, upma, idli, dosas, soups, milkshakes, mixed vegetable pulao. All fruits, mashed potato, paneer, cheeze. Dates and dryfruits with milk. Try any of these food items gradually and with patience. Do not hurry. Meal time should be very happy time. Enjoy seeing your child having a happy meal.

Hi, I have a 19 month old daughter. She is always throwing tantrums and gets upset over small things. She cries a lot when we don't give her whatever she desires and eventually has her way. I don't want to spoil her and need help to understand her psychology and control her behavior.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
This is the terrible twos. The child was once the center of the world and has to now adjust to the fact that you are going to have to meet some of your own needs before hers. She will not be able to take it for some time. You need to set boundaries and let the child know that she will not be neglected but she must develop a little patience. She will throw tantrums to force the attention from you and she will try to control you too. Help her tide over this phase without rejecting her. For example, you can tell her to stop crying when she wants something until you are available or finished doing whatever you are doing. She can cry a little but do not allow her to whine or holler for too long. She will also learn anger management at a child level with these types of behaviors. Don?t ever deprive her of love. As this process unfolds, she will develop good self-control and will be a fabulous child as time flies by. Later on you will also find it easy with her for this worthwhile investment. It may last for a year maximum, if handled well.

General Physician,
Atopy is long lasting condition and keep on coming at interval. Permanent cure is difficult Treatment includes avoiding soap and other irritants. Certain creams or ointments also may provide relief from the itching. A dermatologist will create a treatment plan tailored to the patient’s needs. Medicine and other therapies will be prescribed as needed to: Control itching. Reduce skin inflammation (redness and swelling). Clear infection. Loosen and remove scaly lesions. Reduce new lesions from forming.

I think I have relied to this question in private communication. Do follow the same. You would get results sooner. Engage him in constructive activities I mentioned. Like showing playcards of glenn domen concept (downloadable from web), give blocks to play, drawing painting, singing, music, playing more n more with peer group, dancing, activity in splash pool might help. This can be solved at greater level with" pediatric developmental physician if you have any in your vicinity. Feel free to contact again.
