Epididymis is a specialised convoluted tube which transfers sperms from testes to the vas deferens, the channel responsible for taking sperms to the urethra and finally into the ejaculate. An inflammation of epididymis is termed as epididymitis. Common reasons are infections such as chlamydia, gonorrhea and E coli while trauma or obstruction to the path of urine causing urine reflux are other common causes. It is commonly associated with inflammation of the testes as well. The diagnosis is clinical, and assisted by investigations such as ultrasonography. Treatment required course of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medications and should be strictly carried out under medical supervision. An uncomplicated case typically takes 5 to up to 10 days for resolution of symptoms. Since there are other, potentially serious, acute diseases of testes, such as torsion testis, which may have a similar presentation, a medical opinion should be taken immediately in case of testicular pain.

Dear sir, mere father ka seram creatine 6: 8 ho gya hai aise mai Kya karna chaiye koi khatre wali baat hai.
Hello lybrate-user, A serum creatinine of 6.8 is significantly higher than the upper limit of normal range. It is a marker of malfunctioning kidney and needs to be properly investigated and treated. You should consult a nephrologist in person as soon as possible. Take all reports with you when you see the doctor.

I am 68 years of age. I am diabetic and also gone through CAG in the year 2006. Once in a 15-20 days or one month, I find that the blood is coming out while sitting clearing my bowels. There is no pain in any where. Neither in rectum nor in stomach. It is also to inform you that for the past 3 days, a good quantity of blood is coming out from rectum. Bowels are also not cleared daily. There is no morning pressure. After having breakfast or good quantity of breakfast I feel to go for clearing bowels. I am non smoker and do not take any kind of hot drinks like wine, whisky or beer or rich food. Is it blind piles? Kindly suggest medicines. Regards. Gautam Sengupta.

Dear Mr. lybrate-user, Piles (or hemorrhoids) are one of the commonest causes of bleeding per rectum. However, at an age of 67 and with significant amount of blood that you stated, the other causes need to be ruled out. You should not worry about other causes till they are diagnosed, but you need to receive a colonoscopy. If in case a lesion of any kind (mass, ulcer) is seen, a biopsy should be taken. Another option is barium enema, however it does not give an option of simultaneous biopsy. Thus colonoscopy is recommended. Further, everyone above an age of 50 years should received an annual stool occult blood test and colonoscopy atleast once every two years as screening measures.
