Two months time is not the time period for you to get worried. Sometimes it take more time to conceive naturally. However you can always take support medicines suggested by your doctor. Have patience and here are some tips which can help: Tip #1: The biggest secret to getting pregnant faster is knowing when you ovulate (release an egg from your ovary). Think of the egg as a bull's-eye and the sperm as arrows. One of the arrows has to hit the bull's-eye in order for you to get pregnant. If you notice that you have irregular periods over the course of several months, pinpointing ovulation could be difficult. Ask your doctor for advice. Tip #2: Once you know when your egg will be released from your ovary, you can plan to have sex during your most fertile days: from three days before ovulation through the day of ovulation. (Starting a little sooner can't hurt; some women have gotten pregnant from sex that happened six days before they ovulated.) If you have a regular cycle of 28 days, days 12 to 16 days are said to be a woman's most fertile period counting from the first day of cycle. Tip #3: Sperm have their best shot at fertilizing an egg when they're healthy, strong, and plentiful. Several things can help your partner get his sperm supply in fighting shape: - Cut back on alcohol (studies show that drinking daily can reduce testosterone levels and sperm counts and raise the number of abnormal sperm) - Quit tobacco and recreational drugs (these can cause poor sperm function) - Eat enough of certain key nutrients – like zinc, folic acid, calcium, and vitamins C and D – that help create plentiful, strong, wiggly sperm - Avoid hot tubs, saunas, and hot baths, since heat kills sperm.

We are married for 7 years and awaiting for a baby, have tried 6 times iui but still she is not pregnant, my count is 30 million, can we try iui for few more months or ivf, please suggest.

30 million is enough. Don't bother about it. If all your and your wife's reports are normal, then we call it unexplained infertility, where there is very good chance of result. It is mainly because of chance factor, you are getting pregnancy. Now, iui has success rate 25% per cycle. So, 6 iui is enough. As you have not conceived by iui, I would suggest you to go straightaway for ivf (success rate 30-50% per cycle). If the financial constraint is there, I would suggest, get prepared for ivf. In the mean time, you can try further iui but remember, in your case further iui is unlikely to succeed.

Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) - What To Expect From This Procedure?

Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) - What To Expect From This Procedure?

There are many reasons leading to infertility, but one of the main causes is the inability of the sperm to travel all the way up to the uterus to fertilize an egg. This is caused by defective sperms and could be due to poor sperm quality, poor motility, etc. There are multiple reasons for this, and even smoking, obesity, diabetes, hypertension, etc. could be reasons.

Many technical advancements in fertility treatments are being done, and they try to keep the natural process of fertilization intact, at the same time improving the chances of success. Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI, often used as a standalone term iksee) improves the rate of fertilization in that the sperm is directly injected into the egg. The environment of this artificial fertilization is completely controlled, and the fertilized egg is then placed into the womb for further growth. It is one of the recent methods of improving fertility, a part of ART (assisted reproductive technology).

Indications:

  1. Poor sperm perms motility
  2. Semen where sperm concentration is low
  3. Male infertility with unidentifiable cause
  4. Poor sperm quality, with sluggish sperms
  5. Ejaculation issues, such as retrograde ejaculation (semen is ejected into the bladder)
  6. Useful in couples who have failed IVF
  7. Low AMP reserve
  8. Low egg quality
  9. Tubal blockage

What to expect?

The following outlines some of the steps for both male and female before and during the procedure.

Before the procedure - males:

  1. The first step is the sperm collection; a screening is first done
  2. Sperms collection happens through either masturbation or directly from the testicles via a small incision
  3. Sperms could be collected fresh or collected and frozen for later use

Before the procedure – women:

  1. In the normal menstrual cycle, only a single egg is released. However, prior to ICSI, the woman is given ovulation drugs, which are high-dose hormone injections prior to ovulation. This ensures multiple eggs are released, which are then retrieved for fertilization in the external environment.
  2. Blood and urine are monitored regularly to identify the ovulation time, and eggs are collected within 24 to 36 hours of release

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Treatment
The process of IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) is a laboratory procedure where the egg is fertilized with the sperm in a laboratory dish and is implanted into the woman’s uterus. Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is an assisted reproductive technique wherein a single sperm is injected into the cytoplasm of the oocyte with the help of special micro-manipulators.

antipsychotic drugs are better avoided in pregnancy.. but due to lack of large studies their side effects on foetus have not all been documented clearly wth statistical precision. However, if your psychiatrist feels that continuation of treatment is more important, please defer planning a family for the time being.

Chronic Pelvic Pain - Common Causes Behind It + Related Symptoms!

Are you suffering from chronic pelvic pain? Well, then it is time to consult your doctor. Chronic pelvic pain can be the indication or symptom for other serious disorders. It is often difficult to figure out the exact cause of the pain. Chronic pelvic pain refers to the persistent pain in the pelvic region that has been lasting for over six months. Your doctor needs to carefully examine your symptoms to know the source of the pain.

Here are some of the causes that lead to chronic pelvic pain:

Endometriosis: In this disease, cells that form the lining of the uterus grow abnormally. These cells grow on organs like the ovaries, urinary bladder or rectum. Symptoms that can be accompanied with pelvic pain in Endometriosis.

  • Pelvic pain or cramps before or during your period
  • Pain during or post sex
  • Pain at the time you ovulate
  • Pain during bowel movements
  • Rectal bleeding during period
  • Pain during urination
  • Lower back pain
  • Infertility
  • Spotting in between periods
  • Bloating

AdenomyosisThis disease is similar to endometriosis. Cells lining the uterus tend to invade the uterus and muscle tissues of the uterine wall. In many cases, women with adenomyosis are devoid of any symptoms. Some of the common symptoms are:

  • Pain during period
  • Pressure on bladder or rectum
  • Massive periods
  • Long periods

Interstitial CystitisWomen suffering from interstitial cystitis have inflammation of the urinary bladder. The inflammation is due to any infection. This affects women as a result of their aging. Symptoms:

Bacteria cause urinary tract infections. This, in turn, leads to pelvic pain. Infections can affect any part of the urinary tract. It can also affect the kidneys, bladder, and urethra. Urinary tract infections are common in women mainly. Symptoms:

  • Pressure in lower pelvis
  • Pain or a burning sensation during urination
  • Needing to urinate frequently
  • Cloudy urine
  • Blood in urine

When to visit a doctor?
It is difficult to know and assess the right time to visit the doctor. But the pain may be very irritating. It can also lead to fatal and chronic disorders. Therefore, it is best to consult a doctor if the pain persists for a long period and doesn’t vanishes with the home-based remedies or medication. The doctor may conduct lab tests, laparoscopy, or radiological tests to come to a conclusion.

In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!
