SIDS or sudden infant death syndrome remains to be one of the main source of unexplained deaths of a child under one year. It is also called cot death and crib death. Usually parents who make their infants sleep in separate rooms in a crib or cot experience this. The child doesn’t struggle or wriggle but doctors presume the stress of being away from the mother leads to this.
HOW IS SIDS DIAGNOSED?
Sids as a cause of death is determined only when all other causes have been excluded.
HOW IS SIDS TREATED?
There is no evident treatment for SIDS but only preventive measures. Avoid risks of suffocation in bed for the child. Keep the child close to you rather than a separate room till they are one year old. Check their sleep position and bedding.
DID YOU KNOW?
Sids is sometimes known as crib death because the infants often die in their cribs.
