What does a pharmacist do? They come up with medicines that remove harmful substances from your system, clean up your bodies and help you bounce back to your feet. Did you know there is an organ in your body that does pretty much the same? Your liver too acts like a pharmacist! How, you will ask? Read on to know all about it.

Your very own pharmacist!
Here are the reasons why we called your liver a pharmacist-

  1. Detoxification
One major cause of illnesses is the build-up of toxins in the body. Harmful substances enter our body through the food and water we consume. Then, our cells too produce waste matter in the course of their daily activities. Unless they are removed, any number of health issues, from pimples and acne to muscle paralysis and severe infections can set in.
And all this is prevented by the liver. It removes the harmful stuff that has seeped into your blood. Bile, which is produced by your liver carries the bad stuff to your intestines and eventually are expelled from your body with your poop or removed through your urine. Thus, your blood becomes detoxified.

  2. Fortifying of blood
A pharmacist also makes sure that your body is healthy and sturdy. The liver too can do that. It not only cleans your blood but also ensures that vital nutrients are not removed from the blood. When you consume meals, nutrients such as mineral, vitamins or protein enter your bloodstream from your intestines. This blood goes to all parts of your body to provide your cells with nutrition. But before it starts its journey, blood makes a brief stop at the liver. As we explained, the liver removes substances you don’t need. At the same time, it also converts the essential nutrients into forms that can be absorbed by your body. That is how your body remains healthy and strong.
Like any good pharmacist, the liver will bolster your health by fortifying your health. The liver can store vitamins, copper and iron and add them to your blood whenever a deficit is sensed.
Don’t tax your hardworking pharmacist by gorging on harmful foods. Because it increases your liver’s workload. If it has to eliminate too many toxins, it will take a toll on its performance.

  3. It acts as a defender
A pharmacist can give you medicines that target a wide array of problems. Your liver too facilitates your body’s natural healing procedure. For example, this organ is responsible to an extent for blood clotting that can stop bleeding at a site of injury.
