​​​​​​Baker Cyst is one of the common cause of pain and swelling in the space behind the knee. It is also known as popliteal cyst. It causes stiffness and knee pain. Baker Cyst is common nowadays and can be caused by virtually any cause of joint swelling. The pain caused by popliteal cyst is more worsens if the patients fully flexes or extends the knee or moves around .The excess joint fluid (synovial fluid) bulges to back of the knee to form the baker cyst. Ostearoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis associated with Baker’s Cyst. And Juvenile arthritis is one of another cause of baker cyst in children. Baker Cysts is more common in females of 40 plus age or above. Baker cysts also can result from cartilage tears which include torn meniscus, rehematoid arthritis and other knee problems.

What are the symptoms of Baker Cyst?
Joint locking, knee pain, swelling and calf pain are some of the symptoms of baker cyst. Swelling or lump behind the knee is more common symptom and this is more evident while standing or performing any activity of knee.
