What is Intestinal Ischemia?

Intestinal ischemia is described as a variety of disorders that cause insufficient blood flow to the gastrointestinal tract. It is a serious condition that can lead to death.

Symptoms of Intestinal Ischemia

Causes of Intestinal Ischemia-

  • Blockage in an artery caused by a blood clot
  • Buildup of cholesterol deposits on the walls of an artery
  • Heart, blood vessel, intestinal or gynecologic surgeries
  • Impaired blood flow resulting from low blood pressure
