While medicine is making advances at a rapid pace, it makes some good sense to pay attention to ancient medicine, especially when it can not only relax a person who is stressed, but also has the potential to heal.

The form of medicine which is being spoken about here is Ayurveda, which has its origins in India and has been practiced for about 5,000 years. According to Ayurveda, over time, stress and toxins accumulate in the body and the way to get rid of them is by having a daily massage, which is known as abhyanga.

In this kind of massage, there is no need for a masseur or masseuse. You can massage yourself with oil. The important thing about abhyanga is that it should be comprehensive and must cover the full body. When it comes to the choice of oil, cured sesame oil works wonders, as do herbal massage oils and aroma massage oils. A good aroma oil is usually a blend of coconut and lavender.

Benefits of Abhyanga Healing-
By practising abhyanga, the lustre of the skin is greatly improved. Once you make abhyanga a part of your daily routine, your skin is bound to attain increased radiance over time.

Apart from giving you a fresh skin, abhyanga also helps in reducing your fatigue levels and as a result of the same, you stamina levels seem to be much higher. All this goes a long way in improving the quality of sleep one has, which yields more productivity during the time you spend working. In short, not only does abhyanga possess the potential to improve one’s health, but also indirectly helps an individual manage his work front better.

Many people are of the opinion that only physically tough exercises can result in an improvement of the muscle tone of the body. However, this is not necessarily true as is proved by abhyanga, which is a great relaxing way to go about improving the tone of the muscles. The nervous system is also done a big favour as a side effect of practising abhyanga. It has a very calming effect on the nerves.

Moreover, there is good news for people who have issues with joints and bones – abhyanga helps improve lubrication in the joints. So, with the power of abhyanga, one can delay the knee replacement, or not even need it, at all!

Last but not the least, abhyanga helps in detoxification of the body as the warm oil massage leads to the removal of toxins from the system.
