Urinary tract infections or UTI is one of the most miserable conditions that can affect an individual. The affected person can be absolutely clueless about why and what has happened to his or her body which is leading to intolerable pain and discomfort in the urinary tract. It normally happens when any bacterial infection makes up room for itself up in the urethra and is known to affect women more than men. No matter what has caused the infection, it causes the same amount of pain, inflammation, and itchiness in the urinary tract if left untreated.

Though most people tend to opt for modern allopathic treatments for fast recovery from UTI, it can be effectively cured with a few Ayurvedic remedies.

  1. Increase water intake: Although this one may sound quite obvious, UTI affects people who do not drink enough water. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure that an individual drinks enough water and increase the daily intake of water gradually. It helps in flushing out all the toxins and bacteria from the body. It may become difficult to increase the amount of water intake all of a sudden, but it can be mixed with a few slices of freshly chopped ginger, or mint leaves to bring about a refreshing feel. This is an essential step to make sure that you bounce back to good health in a short span.
  2. Ghritpaan: Drinking pure cow ghee in the morning empty stomach is the best solution to cure any kind of UTI. Patient must be cautious if he is suffering from High BP.
  3. Take care of personal hygiene: Prepare a vaginal wash by dipping Alum in water. This alters the pH and reduce the chances of bacterial growth.

When someone is affected with UTI, it is advised to stay away from food substances such as caffeine, citrus, chocolate and carbonation that can irritate the bladder lining making it difficult to urinate. Though it would be very difficult to avoid these things as most people eat them in a course of a day, one should avoid them to help in soothing the urinary tract infections.Curd contains Lactobacillus acidophilus that prevents the growth of unwanted bacteria. Hence, curd intake is recommended. However, if the condition persists more than 3 days, it is crucial to consult with an expert.
