Urinary incontinence is a very embarrassing medical condition that may even lead to social isolation of the woman. In this condition the woman leaks out small amount of urine while coughing or laughing or sneezing. For this reason, it can often interfere with the person’s daily routine. Though there easy treatment options for urinary incontinence, women donot come forward for the treatment. 

Kegel exercises 
Kegel exercises involve flexing the muscles that control bladder movements. These exercises can benefit men and women. Kegel exercises are simple and involve merely clenching and releasing the pelvic muscles. By doing this the pelvic muscles are strengthened. An improvement can be noted within 6 to 12 weeks of practicing this exercise. 

Medication 
A number of different types of medication can help control urinary incontinence. Anticholinergics help calm an overactive bladder and reduce the urge to urinate frequently. Medication may also be prescribed to relax the bladder muscles and thus increase the urine carrying capacity of the bladder. This can also help the person empty his or her bladder completely every time they pass urine. Men suffering from urinary incontinence may benefit from alpha blockers. This type of medication relaxes the bladder neck muscles and makes it easier to pass urine. Women suffering from this condition may benefit from the use of topical estrogen. Surgical treament Simple surgery for urinary incontinence can significantly improve the quality of life of a woman. The surgery is almost like a day care surgery and results are instantaneous. 

Stay Hydrated 
This problems makes many women drink less water. This leads to other problems such as constipation, urinary stones etc. Some women time their fluid consumption and avoid drinking too much water when stepping out or right before hitting the bed at night. Along with water, you can also drink juices to stay hydrated. However, caffeinated drinks must be avoided.
