How is the treatment done?

Urinary Incontinence is condition where there is loss of bladder control with an individual which leads you to use the washroom every now and then. The severity of this condition results in individuals that cannot even control their urge to urinate for a small amount of time. This condition is much more common in aged individuals but anyone can be affected with this condition due to disorders associated with the urinary tract. Many people experience minor leaks of urine whereas some discharge urine in small quantities at frequent intervals. When you are affected with this condition you can experience leakage of urine even when you do not want to and it happens due to an involuntary force such as coughing, sneezing or even during exercising. The neurologic infections also tempt you to discharge urine often and it is involuntary in nature. Other common symptom of this condition is that you experience overflow incontinence, this means that you keep drizzling urine until your bladder is completely empty. This condition might be temporary in nature and thus you need medical attention to cure this condition as it causes irritation and various problems to carry out day to day activities. Some drinks and foods might also increase the urge to urinate more. This condition might also be caused by urinary tract infections and constipations.

Who is eligible for the treatment? (When is the treatment done?)

The treatment begins with a test of urinalysis which detects the exact problems that you are facing and the causes of the same as well. The course of treatment requires certain behavioral techniques such as bladder training. In the process of bladder training you are trained to control yourself from frequent urges to urinate. Double voiding is also a common technique. In this process when you urinate, you stop once and then continue urinating after some time. You should have a chart of fluid and diet management where you avoid foods and drinks that increase the rate of urination. Certain exercises are advised to follow. These exercises are known as pelvic floor muscle exercises. In women to prevent the urge to urinate they are sometimes prescribed with certain urethral inserting which is a tampon like device that prevents leakage of urine. Sometimes surgeries such as sling procedures, bladder neck suspensions and prolapsed surgeries are advised to clear the urinary tract infections and help you to filter out the urine properly into the pelvis of your kidney. Certain anti infection medicines are also prescribed to ease out the symptoms that you face. This conditon might run in the family as well for which you should be cautious from an early stage.

Who is not eligible for the treatment?

If you face difficulty in controlling your urge to urinate and that causes you pain in your bladder along with leakage of urine while sneezing, coughing or during exercises then seek help of your medical expert as you might have a condition of urinary incontinence and you are eligible for this treatment.

Are there any side effects?

If you have donated a kidney then seek medical attention as the course of treatment may be different if you have one kidney.

What are the post-treatment guidelines?

Some common side effects of the treatment procedure are irritation, fatigue and insomnia. If the treatment is not carried out properly then you might develop urinary tract infections.

How long does it take to recover?

You should avoid certain drinks and foods that improve the chances of frequent urination and follow the exercises that are required. You should also continue with the medications and look out for the reoccurrence of the symptoms.

What is the price of the treatment in India?

If you undergo a surgery then you should recover within a week. If you are prescribed with medications and exercises then you should notice favorable changes within a month. However you must carry out proper treatment and a suitable diet otherwise the symptoms can reoccur again.

Are the results of the treatment permanent?

The price of the surgeries depends on the facilities of your healthcare provider and these surgeries range from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 25,000. The medications and therapies range approximately from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 3,000.

What are the alternatives to the treatment?

The results of the treatment vary from person to person on how their urinary tract responds to the medications and surgeries. On an average, the treatment resulted in many favorable changes.
