Get your thyroid profile, cbc, blood sugar fasting checked from some lab. In the meanwhile follow this 1. Don't take tea empty stomach. Eat something like a banana (if you are not diabetic) or any seasonal fruit or soaked almonds and a glass of water first thing in the morning (within 10 mins of waking up). No only biscuits or rusk will not do. 2. Don't overeat 3. Take your breakfast every day. Don't skip it. U should eat whatever your mother or grandparent eat in bfast. I mean to say whatever is your traditional food. If punjabi eat paratha, if belongs to south then take idli/ dosa etc. 4. Have light meals every 2 hours (in addition to your breakfast, lunch n dinner) e.g. Nariyal paani, chaach, a handful of dry fruits, a handful of peanuts, any fresh n seasonal fruit, a cup of curd/milk etc 5. Finish your dinner at least 2 hours before going to sleep. 6. Maintain active life style7. Avoid fast foods, spicy n fried foods, carbonated beverages 8. Take a lot of green vegetables n fruit. 9. Drink lot of water.10. Everyday preferably sleep on same time exercise in the form of yoga, cycling, swimming, gym etc.For more details, you can consult me.

Hello. I am a 28 year old man unable to gain weight. I am stuck in the range of 44-49 kgs since the past 10 years. Currently I weigh 47 kgs. My height is 5 ft 8.5 inches. I am a non smoker and a teetotaller. Additional info- I was born prematurely. 5 years ago I joined a gym and it took me 4 months to gain 2 kg weight. I have a desk job and I do moderate physical work daily. I have less than 2 litres of water daily. Daily food intake is generally a cup of coffee, peanut butter-bread, rice, dal, roti, and vegetable. Are there any tests that I should undertake? What diet will you recommend? Veg and non veg (eggs and chicken only) included.

Hi lybrate-user, I will recommend you to follow a healthy balanced diet. You need to inculcate locally grown vegetables and fruits in your daily diet. Dal 2 katori per day. 6 cereal serving to be included in daily diet. Eg. 6 chapatis per day. Milk and milk products 500 ml per day. Soaked almond 5 to 10 per day and 5 soaked raisins in daily diet. 2 seasonal fruit per day. Desighee and mustard oil or other cold-pressed oil not more than 5 servings per day. Include salads in your main meal. After lunch within 1 hour prefer intake of chach/ lime water. Avoid intake of tea with main meals. Home made besan ladoo/ panjeeri/ foxnut/ peanuts/ roasted channa + makhan mixture as snacks. Eat healthily and stay happy. Your focus should be on good health and doing your work effectively. Avoid stress. Have positive affirmation that I am getting healthier day by day. For customised diet consultation, you can contact me personally.
