Microdermabrasion vs Chemical Peel - Which Exfoliation Method is Better for You?

Microdermabrasion vs Chemical Peel - Which Exfoliation Method is Better for You?

Many factors come into play when evaluating the health of our biggest organ, the skin. It is always exposed to external elements and hence sustains most potential damage. When choosing the proper treatments and products to enhance your skin, you should take into consideration such factors as skin pigmentation, acne, fine lines, wrinkles, skin sensitivities, oiliness or dryness. Exfoliation procedures can be physical or chemical. Which is best for you? The best way to decide on Microdermabrasion vs Chemical Peel is to review the benefits and expectations of each procedure.

Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is the most common physical method for removing the very superficial level of the skin. It is a manual exfoliation of the epidermis to remove dead skin cells, debris and impurities. Normally, an instrument, which combines suction and a wand made of diamond or small crystal particles, is used to remove these from the skin.

Microdermabrasion produces instant results, but may not be a good choice for inflamed, sensitive or rosacea type skin. In such cases look for resurfacing methods that utilize a dermafile, a manual exfoliation using diamond files. This technique reduces breakage of capillaries in someone with thin or sensitive skin. Microdermabrasion encourages collagen stimulation and a more rapid cell turnover in the skin.

Microdermabrasion wands consist of two main types:

  1. Crystal tip – A mixture of fine aluminum crystals are used to abrade the skin, as the cells and debris are blown away.
  2. Diamond tip  – Very fine diamond particles are used to remove any dead cells, oils, or debris, as these are also suctioned away.

What can I expect from Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion should leave the skin’s surface velvety smooth, soft, bright and glowing. This rejuvenation method is instant and in rare cases, a pinkness or sensitivity may occur a few hours directly after the procedure, lasting less than 24 hours. Microdermabrasion is a workhorse of all rejuvenation procedures. Although it is primarily used on the face, it can be used on any part of the body, from the neck to chest, to hands, etc. Microdermabrasion is frequently done on the same day prior to other rejuvenation procedures for maximum benefits.

Chemical Peel
Chemical peels use topical applications of peeling solutions to rejuvenate the skin, address fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, tone and texture. They allow for cells that make collagen to function more effectively and remove any damage caused by the sun and other external forces that always act on our skin. Chemical peels are the preferred method in general for the treatment of the following;

  1. Counter fine lines and wrinkles
  2. Issues with skin pigmentation due to age or sun damage
  3. Acne and some acne scars
  4. General improvement in the skin’s texture, tightness and overall appearance

How do Chemical Peels work?
Whenever we take a step outside, or take a ride in a car our skin is exposed to harsh elements, pollutants, and harmful ultraviolet rays. With exposure to these elements, the skin is potentially damaged, leading to the aged appearance.

Chemical peels remove damaged cells; stimulate the growth of the new skin cells and collagen production. Different peels are used for different purposes. They can and should be customized for each patient’s particular skin types and problems. There are wonderful new combination peels that are safe, effective and have minimal down time. Anyone undergoing a chemical peel must stay out of the sun from 6 – 10 days and needless to say continue to use sun block.

Microdermabrasion vs Chemical Peel
It is always best to consult your physician when determining what will work best for your individual case and to help you accomplish your rejuvenation and/or skin-improvement goals.

5 Ayurvedic Treatment For Rosacea!

Rosacea is a medical condition of the skin that affects people across the globe. The exact cause of rosacea is unknown to scientists and there is still no permanent solution to this. However, heredity is believed to be one of the causes of rosacea. They are small and red in appearance, often filled with pus. They are fairly visible on forehead, nose, and cheeks. They occur in cycles, and temporarily go away only to come back within a short interval of time.

There are four kinds of rosacea, namely erythematotelangiectatic, papulopustular, rhinophyma and ocular. Every rosacea type has its own set of symptoms. Rosacea can get worse if there is a tendency of eating spicy food and alcohol consumption. Ayurveda is known to be a great treatment option for treating rosacea. Here is a set of Ayurvedic treatment options that could fetch great results:

  1. Turmeric: Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant powerhouse. It can treat a range of skin diseases, such as skin aging, hyperpigmentation and scarring. Not to mention it is one of the finest elements to treat rosacea. Experts of Ayurveda suggest consuming one spoon of turmeric on a daily basis to avoid skin inflammation and other skin problems. It can be taken in the form of juice, with food, and capsule.
  2. Carrots and beets: Carrots and beets are one of the best forms of iron. The latter is required for the normal functioning of the skin. Deficiency of it can cause the skin to be dry and sallow. Beets and carrots have the ability to control rosacea. They can be consumed daily with food or in the form of juice.
  3. Ashwagandha: Ashwagandha is more commonly known as east Indian ginseng. They are one of the most powerful herbs to treat rosacea. Being anti-inflammatory in nature, it strengthens the skin from within and helps in getting rid of rosacea puss. Ashwagandha can be applied in the form of an extract every alternate day to fetch great results.
  4. Honey: Honey is a natural cleanser and antioxidant. They directly attack the rosacea causing virus and do not let them spread. Honey can also bring down the reddish patches that are so common of rosacea. Honey should be applied on the face before taking a bath or sleeping, and washed away with warm water after 1 to 2 hours.
  5. Fenugreek: Fenugreek is an ancient medicinal plant that is rich in vitamin C, folic acid, vitamin A, vitamin K, iron, potassium, and calcium. They help the skin to glow and remove the reddish patches on the face. Its anti-inflammatory nature does not allow the pus to form. It is also considered to be an anti-itching agent. It can be consumed daily in meals.

Acne (Pimple) Homeopathic Treatment!

Homeopathy for acne is different from conventional treatment in that a homeopathic remedy is individualized to the person. Because every person is different, no single homeopathic remedy will work for everyone. A remedy is selected based on a person’s unique set of symptoms, including (but not limited to) their acne symptoms. Therefore, seeking care with a homeopathic healthcare provider will likely result in the greatest success when treating acne.

Below are just a few of the many possible remedies that homeopaths consider for treating acne:

  • Hepar sulph: pimples that are very painful; they may feel like a splinter in the skin. Lesions are very sensitive to touch and possibly cold. They may cluster in crops on the forehead and tend to form pustules and whiteheads easily. Discharge may smell like old cheese. In general, the person may be very chilly and oversensitive to pain, touch, cold, and slight causes.

  • Calcarea sulph: severe cystic acne. Lesions persist in one place for weeks and do not heal quickly. Yellow, creamy pus drains for a long time. Unhealthy-looking skin with yellowish scabs. Pimples on face and near ears and hairline. Tendency to infections of the sinuses, ears, and tonsils that persist a long time. Person may be warm-blooded and feel worse in warm rooms.

  • Kali bromatum: acne begins in the teen years and continues relentlessly into adulthood. Bluish, red pustules on the face, chest, and shoulders that leave scars, purple spots, or a depression in the skin. Pimples may have a depressed center or be painful, large red cysts with a white or yellow center. In females, the acne may be worse near the menstrual period. The person may have fidgety hands and feed, unpleasant dreams, restless sleep, and teeth grinding. They may be worse from warmth.

  • Pulsatilla: acne in young girls that is associated with the onset of puberty. Acne that is associated with the menstrual period (especially when the period is irregular or absent) or with pregnancy. The person tends to have little thirst; to be weepy and like comfort and consolation; and to be chilly but like open, cool air and gentle motion.

  • Silica: deep, hard cystic acne, like boils on the face, especially the cheeks; pimples often to do not come to a head or show pus. Pimples are very slow to heal and leave pitting scars. The person tends to get infections easily and frequently. They may be chilly with sweaty hands and feet. They may be fatigued and lacking in strength and confidence, while also being obstinate with fixed ideas.

  • Sulphur: acne with very oily skin. Blackheads are plentiful. Pimples and whiteheads are very large but not that deep. The face, especially the nose, is generally affected and tends to become reddened. Pimples may be painless but itchy. The skin may be rough and worse from washing. The acne may also be worse from heat, before the menstrual period, and from eating fatty foods. (This remedy is especially indicated for rosacea, a reddening of the face that causes acne-like eruptions.

A. Rosacea is a long term problem and one can't completely get rid of it easy. That doesn't mean you can't have a normal color skin. There are few specific usfda approved creams available which reduce redness literally in minutes. Plus taking care of aggravating factors control disease and it's complications to a good extent. We should discuss this in great details.

Treatment for Rosacea requires regular follow up with a dermatologist and sun avoidance among other things. The dermatologist will assess your disease status with magnifying instrument and prescribe you medicines accordingly. So my advice is to visit a dermatologist in person.

Laser For Birthmarks
Hi,

I am Dr PK Talwar, cosmetic surgeon, I have been doing cosmetic surgery for last 28 years and we were among the first ones who introduced Laser hair removal in India and then Laser for birthmarks in India.

When we talk about the birthmarks, the laser for birthmarks there are basically commonest two kinds of birthmarks one is black birthmark like you seen Nevus of Ota or Becker s Nevus and second is vascular birthmarks, like port wine stains or then port wine stains that is very common it is also known as hemangioma, hemangioma are different kinds and different kinds of hemangiomas are treated by different laser-like pulsed dye laser, long pulsed ND-YAG etc. Now coming to the first part that is the black birthmarks, so commonest which we are getting is Nevus of Ota in this there is pigment on one side or both side of faces in certain cases and even in the conjunctiva. This can be very disheartening to a patient, when I introduced this laser initially I tried in 2003 I had a young beautiful lady who had the birthmark on the face one side of the face and she has around 30 years of age but by the time she came to me she was already divorced because of the problem of the birthmark. We gave her 10 to 12 sittings and the birthmark Nevus of Ota 95% or you can be gone and she was very happy, only regret she has was Dr. Talwar I should have come to you earlier, but I told her it is not possible because the laser has come recently so even she had come to me earlier we could not her done anything. So that is one of the cases which is still I remember because it was my one of the first cases and I think best possible results the patient is very very grateful and now we have been treating this kind of problem very commonly Nevus of Ota the results have been very good. The same lasers actually this is Q switch laser, the black pigmentation, now the same laser can be used for freckles, for removal of the tattoos and this Becker s Nevus etc. So the other birthmarks are vascular birthmarks which we call it Port wine stain and the pulsed dye laser is used for that, 2 sittings for black pigments pulsed dye laser is for the vascular or the red birthmarks. Now the difference between these lasers is that the wavelength is different pulsed dye laser is one of the most expensive lasers to buy and the most expensive lasers to maintain, but the results are very rewarding with pulsed dye laser, other modalities are not good as that but pulsed dye laser is the treatment for port wine stain and red birthmarks and we can expect in such cases 70% improvement. We had many patients who have got it done and they are very grateful, we can do Rosacea, Rinofima or facial veins, spider veins etc. we can treat them and patients are really very very happy. So I think the medical science is evolving and the day will come, we will be able to treat 100% of such patients and I suggest strongly that don't go to coeliac because I had a patient with the red birthmark and she went to a coeliac and he applied some sort of acid or what and they burnt the skin. Go to a qualified plastic surgeon or a qualified Dermatologist who is having pulsed dye laser then only you get it done otherwise no and the best wavelength for that is pulsed dye laser is 595 nanometers.

Thank you very much.

Boosting Children's Immunity And Skin Solutions With Homeopathy
Hello Friends!

I am Dr. Sonia Gupta, Senior Consultant Homeopathic Physician. I am MD gold medalist, practicing from 12 years. Today we will discuss about why we should choose homeopathy for children. Because homeopathy is very gentle treatment. Iske koi side-effects nhi hain, harmless hai, bachon ke lia bhut effective hai. Koi nuksan nhi phuchata bachon ko. Aur homeopathy me jo bacho ke problems hain like recurrent cold hua. Aaj kal ke time me jo sabse jyada prominent problem hai bacho k lia vo recurrent cold. Jldi jldi bache bimar pdte hain. Iske lia aap bar bar antibiotic dete hain. Bar bar allergic medicines dete hain jo ke bachon ke soft bodies ko bhut hi nuksan phuchata hai. Other problems hue bacho ke jaise, aaj kal sabse jyada prominent problem hai bachon ke lia ADHD. Jiska full form hai Attention Deficit hyperactivity Disorder.

Aaj kal ke bache bhut hyperactive hote hain. Concentration ki difficulty hoti hai unme. Vo padhayi pe ya ek jgha p khin pe concentrate nhi karna chahte. Usek lia allopathic medicine dena unke bodies ke harmful ho skta hai. Homeopathic treatment se ye problem bhut hi easily solve ho jati hai. Kisi therapy ki jrurat nhi pdti. Plus autism hua, autism bhi aaj kal bhut cases dekhne ko aa rhen hain. Uska cause vaccine injury bhi ho skta hai. Uska cause other kuch pregnancy me history ho skti hai injury ki. To autism ke jo cases hain vo cases homeopathic treatment me uska bhut hi jyada effect and result ata hai. Quki hum bhut jyada allopathic treatment ya other tarike ke treatments nhi de skte. Unki body bhut hi soft hoti hai. Unke organ soft hote hain. Vo grow up kar rhen hote hain. Us waqt agar aap koi bhi harmful treatment dete hai to vo bacho ki body pe aur unke future pe bhut hi galat effect dikhata hai. Isko avoid krne ke lia hume jitna ho sake utna natural treatment ki taraf jana chaiye.

Or homeopathy ka jo treatment hai aaj kal fastest involving system hai. Isko aap future of medicine bhi keh skte hain. Iske side effects bilkul bhi nhi hain. Ye problems ko root se rectify krta hai. Jaad se mitata hai problem ko. Bar bar recurrency koi chance nhi rehte kisi bhi treatment me. To homeopathy ka treatment bhut hi effective hai, harmless hai. Bachon ke lia or badon ke lia, har ek ke lia acha hai. To jyada se jyada jitna aap natural treatment lijiye. Usme homeopathy, physiotherapy, acupressure, diet management, natural chizon ko apni lifestyle me shamil kriye. Homeopathy skin diseases me bhi bhut help krta hai. Skin problems like, sabse promising problem hai aaj kal ke teenage group me and many other age groups me pimples. Pimples ki vjha se log bhut preshan hote hain quki unhe ek permanent solution nhi milta uske lia. Reoccurency bhut jyada rehti hai. Homeopathic treatment ke dwara pimples puri tarike se chale jate hain.

Apka chehra pura clean ho jata hai. Bina kisi side-effects ke, bina kisi cosmetic surgery ke, koi laser treatment lene ki jrurat nhi hai, Koi antibiotic ya koi harmful chizen lene ki jrurat nhi hai. Kewal homeopathic natural treatment se apka chehra pura clear ho jata hai. Pimples ek bar jane ke bad dubara aate bhi nhi. Spots bhi chale jate hain. To homeopathic treatment bhut hi jyada effective hai. Acne me, acne vulgaris, acne rosacea, dono tarike ke cases homeopathy se bhut hi easily solve hote hain. Other skin problems hua urticaria. Urticaria ek allergy hai. Jo ki body me jab immune system ke sath jab gadbad hota hai, apke reactions hote hain body me, thanda ya garam khane se, ek sath, to vo urticaria ke rup me body me reflect hote hain. Mostly urticaria ke lia log cetirizine lete hain. Or unki cetirizine pe dependency badh jati hai. Urticaria me cetirizine is not a treatment. Ye ek temporary relief krti hai.
