Hello!

I am Dr. Rajat Gupta and today we are talking about today is Rhinoplasty. It is also called as nose job in layman language. Many people males and females come to me for nose job. They may have their different problems. Some may have difficulty in breathing because they have a deviated nose. Some may want just an aesthetic improvement because they have a wide nose, broad base of the nose or broad inner layer or maybe just a broad tip. So with rhinoplasty or nose job, we can correct all these issues. Now how it is done is, we were given an incision at the base of the nose inside and just at the base layer. we open the nose skin cover like the cover of a book and then correct all the deformities what an individual needs. After this, we close the cover of the nose and the suture used inside are absorb able. After this surgery you will have a splint or plaster on the nose. It is there for the first seven days.

If it is a simple procedure may be for five days and then your splint and stitches are removed. When you see the results after 7 days it is reasonably dramatic and most of our patients experiences happiness and satisfaction after seeing the results. I tell my patients that this result after 7 days which you see which in fact would further improve over the next few months as swelling and inflammation subsides further. Other than this before rhinoplasty, any person should be knowing this that they have to avoid any smoking before surgery. If they have any cough or cold during that time- avoid the surgery. Your nasal airway and path should be clean and you should not be having any infection before you plan a surgery.

Many people are also worried that after rhinoplasty whether they can do work or they can go to the office and all so I can tell them after the surgery you will have some swelling which will be covered by the splint. You are physically totally active. You can do whatever you want to do from the next day. There is no physical limitation. But since you have a plaster or splint on your nose you are socially restricted or limited. So you can imagine it is difficult to go to your office or your work or any party with the splint on the nose. Other than that physically you have no limitation you can work from home, you can watch TV you can use laptop whatever. There is no physical limitation. And this is only required for seven days after which the splint is removed and you are open to the world.

Thanks!
