Males give utmost importance to the size of their penis as it is culturally associated with the masculinity, precisely as symbolic of the same. The typical masculine characteristics like strength, courage, valor, ability, and fertility are psychologically generally associated in one way or the other with the size of the penis in almost all the cultures and ethnicities around the world.

When any sexual dysfunction or the insufficiency of the male genitalia is there, it leads to the development of inferiority complex in men. It gravely damages self-confidence and self-esteem of the man making him feel inadequate. It leads to psychological disturbances, anxiety, depression, and a damaged social and sexual life. Thus, there are heightened anxieties in men about their manhood which has altogether developed an entire market of products making different claims for the desirable results. For the size of the penis, it is widely considered better if it is bigger. However, contrary to the common belief, and as per experts and sexologists all around the world, the factors like erectile function and the duration of erection before ejaculation bring more sexual pleasure and satisfaction to the partner than the larger size of the penis. This is substantiated by the fact that most of the women around the world experience clitoral orgasm and not vaginal orgasm, even if they prefer deeper penetration for vaginal stimulation. Vaginal orgasm is a rarity among women.

Therefore, it is not the length which is the defining factor for sexual pleasure but the girth of the penis which gives a ‘fuller’ feeling to partner and which brings a clitoral orgasm and sexual satisfaction. Also, as compared to the length of the erection, its hardness leads to a better sexual performance in men. Moreover, the length of the penis might limit the options available for oral and anal sex. Also, it should be noted that there is no correlation between the size of an erect penis and that of a flaccid penis. It means that men having different flaccid penis lengths might have similar erect penis lengths. Moreover, there is no relationship between the penis size and age of men.

Mostly, the flaccid length of the penis for a grown-up man is around nine centimeters whereas erection length ranges between thirteen to eighteen centimeters. There is a great variation in the angle of an erect penis. Thus, there is no correct angle. For teenagers, there is no average length figure for penis as each person grows at his own rate.

There are no exercises which can lead to an elongated penis, both in flaccid and erect states. But, interestingly, expert counselling and therapy help in correcting ‘penis anxiety’ in men by helping them build self-confidence and overcome fears associated with sexual relationships.
