WHAT IS SCABIES?

Scabies is caused by tiny particles that cave into the skin. Scabies is a skin disease which causes itchiness by tiny particles called Sarcoptes scabiei. It causes an intense itching in the areas where the tiny mites burrow. It feels more irritating and the need to scratch may get stronger during the night. Scabies can arise to any part of the entire body. It leads to a very severe itching and rashy condition. The microscopic Scabies appear on the upper layer of the skin and they also lay eggs in those areas. It can usually be caused due to skin-to-skin contact with a person who is already dealing with the problem of scabies. A hug or a handshake do not spread scabies. But it can spread easily by having sexual contact or living in a same house. It can also spread by sharing clothes,towels used by the infected person. Scabies mites last for about 1-2 months. The scabies infection can die if it is exposed to a temperature of 50°C for almost 10 mins.

SYMPTOMS OF SCABIES

It creates an itching sensation to the affected areas. And the itchiness becomes worse during night time. These are usually found on a body where skin gets folded. Scabies attacks mostly to old age people or children. Scabies are found mostly in the areas like:

• Between the fingers and toes
• Waist 
• Inner elbows
• Chest
• Around nipples
• Belly button
• Around genitals etc.

If you're not affected by scabies before, the symptoms may arise within a few days of exposure. The time period for the rise of the symptoms to appear can be several weeks. If you are suffering or having any kind of symptoms of this medical condition you can act as a carrier of the infection. 

TYPES OF SCABIES

CRUSTED (NORWEGIAN)

The people with faulty immune systems get infected with these types of scabies. A large portion of the skin is affected by this medical condition in the form of a crust. In this type of scabies millions of mites arise on the body. 

NODULAR

These types of scabies are mostly found in children. They leave brown-red nodules on skin.

BULLOUS

This type of scabies is mostly found in adults. It can cause another condition involving skin blisters called bullous pemphigoid.

SCALP

This type of scabies found on the scalp.

MAJOR CAUSES OF SCABIES

Scabies are caused by Sarcoptes scabiei (which is a small mite). One can get infected to scabies by skin contact with a person infected by scabies. A direct contact with an infected object like clothes, towels, bedsheet can give rise to scabies. A human being cannot get infected by scabies if they come in contact with any animal having scabies. Only humans face this type of scabies. Adults having a sexual contact with their partner can get infected by scabies. People who live in crowded or close conditions can easily get infected with scabies. 

SCABIES ON PENIS 

Scabies on penis leads to severe itchiness in your genital area along with tiny mites pimples around your penis and scrotum. A rash begins to appear after four to six months when becoming infested with these tiny bumps. Itchiness is the main symptom of scabies. And it becomes worse during the night. But by scratching these mites one can get secondary skin infections. The risk of getting infected by scabies increased if anyone have a sexual intercourse or intimate contact with someone who is already infected by these scabies. Having a multiple sexual partners can increase the risk of scabies. Poor hygiene does not give rise to scabies. But it can worsen the condition of the rash and increase the risk of many bacterial infections.

SYMPTOMS OF SCABIES ON PENIS

When person's penis infest by a scabies mites, they can show a following symptoms:

• They may face a severe itchiness in the genitals, which becomes worse during the night.
• They raise fine lines on the upper region of the skin.
• They create blisters on the skin.
• These mites can spread all over the body if they come in direct contact with the penis, Because scabies spread through skin-to-contact.

HOW TO GET RID OF SCABIES ON PENIS 

It is important to get immediate treatment for scabies, especially to people who have faulty immune systems. It should get immediately cured because they can also give rise to other secondary bacterial infections to other parts of the body. Doctors recommend different scabicides to treat people infected by scabies. These scabicides come in the form of lotion,cream, gel or pills. These scabicides must be taken after consulting the doctor. It is also important to avoid sexual contact with someone if you're infected by scabies. Before the treatment the person with scabies should decontaminate their clothes, bed sheets,towels etc they have used for 3 days. 

The CDC also recommend toh certain things which should be followed during scabies:

• The items you use must be washed in hot water
• The clothes you use must be dry cleaned.
• You should practise a habit of keeping the items that you use in a plastic bag for at least 72 hours.

The person who is infected by crusted Scabies needs to stay in hospital, if they face severe Infestation or they have weak immune system.
