The top of the stomach is removed from the rest of it. A small stomach pouch is created, which is about 30mililitres in volume. After that, the division of the first portion of the small intestine takes place. Then the lower part of the divided small intestine is connected to the stomach pouch and the upper part of it is connected to the small intestine further down.
