Eat well. By this, it does not mean that you binge on everything that you find edible. Eating well in pregnancy means that you should include a variety of foods in your daily diet. Make your plate look colourful by adding a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables to it. Have a good amount of protein in your diet. Vegetarians can get their proteins from pulses, green peas, nuts & peanut butter, beans, chickpeas, tofu, and leafy greens. Those who are non vegetarian should include eggs, fish and chicken breast in their food. Don't forget to have plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated.
Most pregnant women get the advice that they should eat for two in pregnancy. Is that true? well, yes and no! yes, because the dietary requirement of a pregnant woman increases in pregnancy. A pregnant woman needs approximately 300 calories more than a non-pregnant woman daily. And no, because eating for two doesn't mean eating for two adults. One has to take into account that the second person that one is eating for is very tiny compared to an adult, and therefore an extra 300 calories are all that you need to add to your daily diet during pregnancy.
