What is Hair Loss?
Hair loss, also known as Alopecia or baldness, is a loss of hair from the head or body. Hair loss happens when frequent falling of hair results in thinning of the hair in the scalp. Losing hair fast may not only be a disease but it’s also due to heredity, aging or changes in the hormones.

Causes of Hair Loss:
 Hairstyles: Hair treatments with hot oils or irons, and perming, coloring, bleaching, or straightening, will weaken your hair and cause it to break off.
 Scalp infection: Infections, such as ringworm, can invade the hair and skin of your scalp, leading to scaly patches and hair loss. Once infections are treated, hair generally grows back.
 Poor diet: Hair loss may also be due to poor diet that misses out on vital ingredients like proteins, iron, vitamins and minerals and other micro nutrients.
 Stress: Stress is a body reaction that challenges and sometimes disturbs the individual’s health. Too much of stress to the body causes the hair to fall and stop growing, which will later result in hair loss.
 Side Effect of Drug: Most people know that severe hair fall is a side effect of chemotherapy drugs for cancer. But what most people do not know is that medicines for depression, bipolar disorder, and acne can also cause hair loss.
 Water: We must be aware of the regular water supply in our household. It might contain chemical compounds like magnesium, copper and minerals that can harm your hair and cause hair loss.
Home Remedies for Hair Growth
Hair fall is very common nowadays. Want to know how to beat hair loss? Here are some for hair growth you can follow:
 Spinach: Spinach is a great source of iron, vitamin A and C and protein. Iron deficiency is the main cause of hair fall and spinach is not only iron-rich, it also contains sebum which acts as a natural conditioner for hair. It also provides us with omega-3 acid, magnesium, potassium, calcium and iron. These help in maintaining a healthy scalp and lustrous hair.
 Eggs and Dairy Products: Milk, yogurt, cheese, eggs etc. are loaded with essential nutrients such as proteins, Vitamin B12, iron, zinc and Omega 6 fatty acids. Dairy products are also a great source of biotin (Vitamin B7) that is known to fight hair loss.
 Onion Juice: Onion juice is one of the best and oldest remedies to stimulate a good hair growth. The sulphur present in it does not only enhance the growth of strands, but also helps in their re-growth. Squeeze some juice out of the red onions or shallots, and apply it to your hair for about fifteen minutes. Finally, rinse off with a mild shampoo after 1-2 hours.
 Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV): Apple cider vinegar cleanses the scalp and maintains the pH balance of your hair. Therefore, apply ACV after shampooing your hair. Clean scalp naturally accelerates the hair growth.
 Flax Seed: Those, who are not non-vegetarians, flax seeds are an option for them to intake omega-3 fatty acids. Flax seeds are rich in these fatty acids, therefore, are also good for hair. Soak three tablespoons of flax seeds in a bowl of water for five days. After five days, when the water has absorbed almost all the essential nutrients of flax seeds, apply the solution on your scalp with the help of a cotton ball. You will see that within a few days, your hair have started to grow thick. Eating ground flax seeds is also good for hair, skin and health.
 Coconut Milk: Coconut milk reduces hair shedding and breakage. If you want healthy and damage-free strands, use coconut milk as a natural hair conditioner. Massage your scalp with it and keep it for a night. Wash it off the next morning with cold water.
 Amla: Amla (Indian gooseberry) is considered an enriching source for hair growth. Take some pieces of dried Amla and boil them in coconut oil, boil till the oil turns black in color. Cool it and store it in a bottle. Before washing your hair, massage your scalp with this oil and leave it for 30-40 minutes. Wash it off thoroughly with warm water and a mild shampoo. Use this method frequently to prevent hair loss.
 Green Tea: Green tea is the natural source of anti-oxidants, which checks hair fall. Apply warm green tea all over your scalp and rinse off with cold water the next morning.
 Vitamin E Oil: Massage your hair with Vitamin E oil. You can also crush Vitamin E capsules that are available in the market and apply it on the scalp. This helps in enhancing the blood flow and lengthening of hair. Take this treatment thrice a week.
 Aloe Vera: Aloe vera gel, brandy, and egg together can do wonder for your hair. Mix these three and leave them for an hour on your scalp. Wash them with normal water. This remedy will make your hair beautiful, and brandy will add sheen to them.
 Henna: It is a natural hair colorant and hair conditioner. Make a mixture of henna powder, one egg and a cup of curd. Mix all these ingredients well, leave it for a night and apply the henna paste on the hair the next day. Leave it on for an hour and wash with warm water.
 Lemon: Apply the juice in the hair and add few drops of lukewarm olive oil or coconut oil. Massage the hair oil in the scalp, leave it for about half an hour and wash the hair well with a mild shampoo.
Tips to Grow Hair Fast
 Prevent your hair from too much of sun lights. Although, a fair quantity of sunlight is necessary.
 Do not take excessive stress as it may lead to hair loss and slow growth of hair.
 Use conditioner every time you shampoo.
 Circumvent the usage of strong and hard medicines unless prescribed by a physician. Medicines may possibly cause hair fall.
 Avoid using hot water on hair.
