  1. Boosts Blood Circulation: Exercise improves the flow of blood through our entire body. Thus the supply of blood to the digestive systems is also improved. An individual gets rid of gastric problems like gas, heartburn, constipation and stomach cramps.

Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) is a term used to describe pain at the front of the knee and around the knee cap. 
Pfs arises from a combination of intrinsic and extrinsic factors, which include the presence of patella alta, increased q angle, femoral enteversion, itb tightness, latelar retinacular tightness, quadriceps and hamstring weakness and excessive pronation.

Clinical features:-

  • Age:-adolescent girls are more prone.
  • Aching pain typically diffuses and poorly localized over the anterior aspect of the knee. 
  • Click or cracking sound when bending the knee,
  • Wasting of the quadriceps muscles tight muscles around the knee joint. Instability

Knock knee or genu valgum is a misalignment of the legs that causes the knees to bend inward. The condition is apparent in kids but usually corrects itself, as they grow up. However, some adults may also develop the disorder due to an injured knee, obesity, lack of vitamin d and calciumarthritis in the knee.
Surgery is only required for the condition if other treatments do not work and the condition is severe. In other cases, the following treatments are used -

1. Weight loss
This is the most common and simplest remedy to manage and treat knock-knee. However, weight loss only works if the cause of the condition was your weight. Consult your physician to understand whether your knock-knee has been caused due to weight issues or due to other conditions.

2. Exercise
Physical therapy and exercise of the knee joint can also relieve some of the pain and may even rectify the disorder entirely. Stretching and simple leg exercises specifically designed to strengthen the knee can prove greatly effective against knock-knee.

3. Orthotics
If the disorder causes one leg to be shorter than the other, you can use a splint or brace inside your shoe to even out the difference. This will not only decrease pain and normalize your gait, but will also allow you to walk normally in the long run.
Bowlegs syndrome is a similar condition that causes the knees to be far apart, even when the ankles are together. The disorder is often an external manifestation of underlying conditions, such as rickets or Blount's disease. Furthermore, people suffering from the condition are also at risk of arthritis.

Here are some treatments for the condition that do not involve the use of surgical procedures.

1. Treating the underlying condition-

Generally, treatment for bowlegs is only necessary if a specific condition has been diagnosed, which may be causing the abnormality of the legs. For instance, if rickets or other nutritional deficiencies are leading to the disease, the doctor will treat the underlying condition and not the bowlegs.

2. Braces and casts-
Putting the legs inside a brace or a cast can be a great way to normalize the bone structure and in turn, treat the bowlegs. It will also improve the overall gait and eliminate the pain. Even though bowlegs and knock-knee can be painful and affects people very early on in life, they rarely manifest in adults.

Runner’s knee is a very common problem with athletes. It is definitely not something one needs to worry about. In fact, with certain exercises, it can be prevented and if you do develop a runner’s knee, it can be treated with some exercises as well.

There are special sports medical practitioners who prescribe not only regular physiotherapy, but also specific exercises to deal with specific sports injuries. To fight with runner’s knee pain, there are a few exercises.

But the four most important ones are described in detail below.

  1. Quads: For performing proper quads, all you need is a back wall for additional support. You need to hold yourself against the wall and keep your legs apart from each other. The legs should be folded in the knees. In this position, you have to move up till the knee position with a minimum of one minute hold time in the knee position. You can repeat this exercise 10 times at a stretch before moving on to the next exercise.
  2. Hamstring: This is a fairly easier exercise than the previous one. You have to stand straight with your legs apart. Bend downwards from your hips. Relax your neck and back. Ease your head downwards as well. Keep your hands behind. Join both your hands and give it a stretch. If you think that this position is straining your neck or back a little too much, then you can simply stretch your hands without joining them.
  3. Calves: Calves is a standard exercise that is prescribed by medical practitioners and physiotherapists for easing out the pain caused by runner’s knee. You have to stand with your hand against the wall. Put your left leg forward and bend it at the knees. Stand on your right heel. Hold yourself in this position for 20 to 30 seconds before changing the legs and doing the same.
  4. Lateral: Lateral is also one of the easiest and common forms of exercises. You have to stand with your legs directly below your hips. Then stretch your right leg apart. Without bending your knees, try to touch the toes of your right leg with the fingers of your left hand. Hold this position for 20 to 30 seconds before changing the position and performing the lateral with your left leg.

Thus, these are some of the very fundamental exercises that one should follow in order to get quick relief from the pains of a runner’s knee. These exercises are very easy and help in reducing pain.
