Erectile Dysfunction - Delaying Treatment Can Make The Problem Worse

Erectile Dysfunction issues are more common than you might think. The term erectile dysfunction also known as ED or impotence happens when the manhood does not fill with enough blood so the penis will not harden and expand when a man has sexual intercourse. The number of men these days that suffer with this condition has skyrocketed but fortunately, the number of options for treating the it has also increased.

Erectile dysfunction can happen at any age but does become more common in men as they grow older. This issue is extremely common and affects at least half of all men between the age of 45 - 65 years of age. If you have erectile dysfunction, the treatment recommended will depend on the underlying cause of the problem. In some cases, the problem can go away with little or no treatment at all. In many cases, it can be an on-going issue. If you have trouble with sexual performance more than 25% of the time, it is a problem. This can be a sign of an underlying health issue that needs attention, so seeking the right treatment is important. Research shows that physical factors often cause erectile issues. Erection problems that do not go away can also cause further emotional stress. This includes damage to self-esteem, self-confidence and overall can possibly cause damage to a relationship. The main recommendation is to address the problem at the earliest and seek treatment sooner rather than later.

Hard Facts

1. Erectile dysfunction is not the same as premature ejaculation which is having an orgasm too quickly.
2. Male infertility is also a different from erection issues.
3. Erectile Dysfunction can affect a man at any age.
4. Physical causes are more common in older men and emotional reasons are more known in younger men.
5. Bad habits such as smoking, excessive alcohol and poor diet are all contributing factors to ED.

6. The underlying root cause of erectile dysfunction can simply be lack of exercise.
7. Intimate relationships often suffer, especially if the situation is not addressed.

Erection Treatments

Aside from pills like Viagra, Levitra, and Cialis, there are also pumps and surgical procedures that can bring a flagging sex life back. With the pills, you take a dose before you plan to have sex. Unfortunately many men suffer from many unwanted side effects. The side effects of erection pumps can include pain and bruising. Surgery is usually only recommended as a last resort if all other treatment methods have not worked successfully.

Natural Remedies

Besides the standard treatments, there are several natural remedies and many are now being used more than ever, especially for men who no longer want to tolerate the side effects of medications. For many men, simple lifestyle changes can provide some immediate relief:

• Cut down on smoking, another reason to quit.
• Avoid the use of alcohol or limit it.
• Exercise 2- 3 times a week even if just a brisk walk.
• Get plenty of rest and take time to relax. Relaxation exercises may be beneficial.
• Get enough sleep.
• Eat a balanced and healthy diet to maintain good well-being.
• Some super foods for include fish, nuts, fruit, vegetables and grains as they will improve blood circulation.
• Other foods like garlic have aphrodisiac properties and are said to be beneficial for men with this issue.

Once you have the right help for erectile dysfunction, dealing with it as you go through treatment will be easier and not so stressful for yourself and your partner. There are also numerous penile exercises that prove very helpful for men trying to overcome erectile dysfunction.
