Egg retrieval during IVF is done under short anesthesia. An ultrasound probe is inserted into the vagina to identify ovary & follicles. The eggs are extracted from the follicles through a thin needle connected to a suction device. The patient can go home after 2-3 hours. It is painless and if done in experienced hands leads to no complications.
