Unlike some types of medical or health issues, dental problems don't simply go away over time. Rather, they exist continually and nearly always worsen as time goes by. There are a few exceptions like - early tooth decay starts out as mild demineralization of the enamel, weakening it before visible cavitation (hole) forms.

If oral hygiene is improved and fluoride supplementation is used, then the enamel can be remineralized and the cavity process can be reversed. Gingivitis is the same way; a mild inflammation due to poor oral hygiene can be reversed within 1-2 weeks of improved brushing and flossing.
But dental problems left to themselves do not go away. They get bigger and more painful. A small cavity, once it penetrates through the enamel, can advance rapidly. Once it reaches the nerve of the tooth, you have the option of a root canal or extraction, which means more extensive treatment. Keep in mind, repairing a tooth is almost always cheaper than replacing a tooth!
We recommend routine dental care with x-rays, exams, and cleanings. If treatment is recommended, have it completed as soon as possible in order to limit the growth of the decay and the consequences involved.

In case you have a concern or query you can always consult a specialist & get answers to your questions!
