Diet Which Can Do Wonders In Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura!

This diet, if strictly followed can work wonders for an ITP patient. Consume below-mentioned food items as much as possible. It is a balanced diet that is enough to fuel the human body for proper functioning. There are different foods in all three categories. If you eat the foods in PLATE A, you won’t need the other plates. Even if you do, your tendency to eat the foods in PLATE B will go down by 75%. PLATE C has a list of foods which are not good for ITP patients.

PLATE A (THE RESCUER)-

1.  LEAVES & GRASS - Radish leaves, Mint leaves, Coriander leaves, Spinach leaves, Fenugreek leaves, Rocket leaves, Lettuce, Kale, Lemongrass, Wheatgrass and

2. STEAMED VEGETABLES - Potatoes, Cabbage, Bottle gourd, Pumpkin, bottle gourd, round gourd, bitter melon, Peas, Beans, Turnip.

3. JUICES (Consume Everyday) -

Green juice -

  • Coriander (dhaniya) leaves – 10-12

  • Mint (pudina) leaves – 4-5

  • Spinach (palak) leaves - 2

  • Basil (tulsi) leaves – 2-3

  • Wheatgrass (gehun ke jware) – 5-6

  • Long grass juice (durva) – 6-7

  • Sheesham leaves – 2-3

20 ml or 2 tbsp., twice daily can be taken.

Cap. Spirulina, Moringa, Green essentials– 1, each - can be added for better results.

Red juice -

  • Beetroot

  • Amla

  • Apple

  • Pomegranate

  • Marigold flower petals – 9-10

  • Rose petals – 5-6

200 ml, two to three times can be taken.

For taste, black grapes can be added.

4. HERBAL TEAS (Not compulsory to take daily) -

  • Boil 1/2tsp. each of Fennel (Saunf), Dhaniya (Coriander), Anar chilka (Pomegranate peel) in 3 cups of water till it’s reduced to 1 cup. This herbal concoction can be taken twice a day (If there is gas formation if can be preferred)

  • Green tea can be consumed, too.

5.  SPROUTSGreen lentils, Bengal grams, Bean sprouts and Green gram (Green moong)

6. BEVERAGES - Water, Coconut water, Pumpkin juice.

7. SALADS -  Cucumber, Carrot, Radish Beetroot.

8. Fruits - Apples, Pears, Banana, Papaya, Pomegranate, Bael.

PLATE B (THE OXYMORONIC) -

  • A bowl of boiled rice preferably brown rice

  • Khichadi (Gruel) with moong dal

  • Cow ghee is best for ITP. 1 tablespoon, twice daily can be taken

  • Chapatti of wheat flour can be taken or missi roti with raw fenugreek leaves can also be mixed in the dough

  • In the case of Autoimmune disorders like ITP, milk and milk products should be strictly avoided. If the patient wants, Goat milk can be taken, 1-2 small cups daily. Otherwise, there is no need.

PLATE C (THE DAMAGER) -

Citrus fruits – (lemon, orange and sweet lemon), Milk and Milk products (curd, buttermilk and cheese), Packaged foods, Refined sugars, Processed foods, Biscuits, Confectionary items, Corn flakes, Aerated drinks, Alcohol, Spices (Clove, black pepper, turmeric, red chili), All Dry nuts, French fries, Non veg and Other junk foods. Avoid all chilies.
