Frequent trips to the salon in order to painfully wax our unwanted body hair, not only tire us but prove to burn a hole in our pockets too! With modern advances, a lot of us have been resorting to permanent hair reduction, also known as laser hair removal which has been showing tremendously satisfactory results.

How does Laser Hair removal work?

Laser hair removal works by sending the light of the laser through the pigment in the hair, this light converts into heat and zaps the hair follicle and hair bulb.

Am I going to have a painful experience?

The process which was initially slightly painful is thankfully now virtually painless thanks to latest Lasers which effectively freeze that mane in a cooling manner.

How long will it take me to achieve the desired results?

As with most dermatological procedures, patience is key. It will take around 6-12 sessions, with each session spaced at least 4 weeks apart in order to get 75-85% results.

Why does it take 6-12 sessions?

Well, that’s simple really, it’s because of the way our hair growth works. At any given time 85% of our hair is in the growing (Anagen) phase while the rest is in the resting (telogen) or shedding (Catagen) phases. Of the hairs that are growing, 35% of the remaining hairs are eliminated. And so, with each treatment decreasing number of hairs are permanently lost until there comes a time when there is no more hair to eliminate.

What are the advantages of Laser hair removal?

Hair free skin, which is less irritated and lack of ingrown hair, are most certainly the main advantages. Increased confidence and less frequent trips to the parlour are added perks.

Is my skin going to be absolutely silky smooth as an egg after it?

It is certainly reasonable to expect a 75-85% reduction in hair and conversion to the others to fine, barely visible hairs. Thus, it must be borne in mind that no amount of lasing can render the skin as smooth as an egg.

Can it be possible, that certain people don’t see any improvement?

A fraction of women need hormonal evaluation and if any abnormality is detected, proper medication is advised. It is futile to perform laser hair reduction in the face of underlying ailments or abnormalities.

My skin is tanned and oily, can I still get hair reduction done?

Of course! Laser hair removal can be done on all skin types, irrespective of tan. It can be done at any time of the year. And even along with sensitive body parts such as behind the ear, bikini line.

I would still like to know more, whom can I contact?

Contacting a dermatologist is definitely recommended. With this, your way to smooth, hair free skin is only a step away.
