Basil Leaves And It's Importance!

Tulsi or Basil - A plant which is worshipped since time immemorial, Indians do not consider it as herb but it is a plant which is worshipped. A plant which is worshipped as a goddess, taken care of like and individual. The leaves are air purifier. It is considered so powerful that it is placed on cooked food and drinking water during the time of eclipse. The plant is placed near the corpse. And the amazing fact is on the certain day Wedding of tulsi takes place. 

Tulsi green tea or tulsi leaves in milk tea gives an aroma and flavour. It is offered to Gods and the 'Prasad' is chewed. The leaves are taken with honey by singers to improve their sweet voice. Actually, it prevents us from many health problems.

Take tulsi tea. Add cardamom, cloves and cinnamon, ginger, black pepper, saffron for the added benefits. Ttulsi seeds or sabja seeds, tulsi flowers, tulsi drops or oil is also used.

But tulsi can also increase the production of ulcers. May cause nausea, diarrhoea, acid reflux, headache, abdominal discomfort. Not safe for pregnant women. May lower blood sugar level in diabetics. It may worsen hypothyrodism. It may reduce blood clotting so there may a blood loss during or after surgery. It is not advisable to take 2 weeks before scheduled surgery.

Anticogulants, Antiplatelet, Pentobarbital medicine interacts with basil.

So, nurture it and consume it but don't misuse or overdose it. Have it after expert advice.
