Infertility refers to the condition of the biological inability of a male or female to contribute to conception. In Ayurveda, male and female infertility problems are treated not just physically, but also emotionally and spiritually. According to the holistic science system of Ayurveda, the body is divided into various Dhatus or elements. The Dhatu that is responsible for reproductive health is called as the Shukra Dhatu. If the Shukra Dhatu fails to receive its due share of nutrition, it can cause obstruction in the reproductive channels.

A few causes can be poor digestion and lack of well-balanced diet, the presence of too many toxins in the body, mental disturbances of anxiety, depression, and insomnia, hormonal imbalance, consuming extra hot and spicy foods, which increase the body heat and thereby weaken the Shukra Dhatu, by birth impotency, etc. Also, sexual overindulgence or controlling of sexual urges for long period of time can eventually lead to impotency in some cases.

The field of Ayurveda dates back to several thousand years when even modern medicine did not exist. Ayurveda looks at improving the overall health of men or women who are suffering from infertility problems and thus, improves their chances of conception with the least medicinal intervention. Follow this natural treatment based on Ayurveda, to tackle the issue of infertility.

Enhance the Shukra Dhatu:
It is recommended that an improvedlevel of Shukra Dhatu is necessary in order to increase the reproductive capacity in both men and women. There are many natural foods and herbs that can be consumed by men (asparagus, dates, and almonds) and women (quinoa grains, pineapple, milk, and broccoli) that can help you in conceiving faster.

Stay away from spicy food:
The Shukra Dhatu requires a cold environment in order to support fertility. So, too much spicy food can deter the quality of Shukra Dhatu. It leads to less motility of sperm in men and also lowers the quality of ovum in women.

Try the shirodhara therapy:
In order to treat hormonal imbalances, certain medicated oils can be used in head massages. This special rhythmic movement of oil over the forehead induces a balance in the mind and stimulates the glands to secrete the right amount of hormones.

Include medicinal herbs in your diet:
In Ayurveda, natural herbs are used to improve fertility in both men and women. Herbs like Kapikacchu or MucunaPruriens improve quantity and quality of sperm in men, while Lodhra or SymplocosRacemosa can stimulate hormones when consumed by women. Gokshura or TribulusTerrestris can be consumed by both men and women to boost fertility.

Adopt the right lifestyle:
Leading a stress-free life is very important in order to conceive a healthy baby. Quit bad habits like smoking and alcohol or drugs and carry a positive attitude. Also, learn to relax, no matter what. You should always think positive thoughts, and learn to stay calm as much as you can. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!
