Atopic Dermatitis!
Living with atopic dermatitis:
Beside medications, things you can do to help control your atopic dermatitis.
•skin care: sticking with daily skin care routine can prevent flares. Skin care should inclumde:
-lukewarm baths to cleanse and moisturize the skin without drying it out.
-using mild soaps or cleanser.
-a moisturiser to seal in the water after bathing.
-protecting the skin from rough clothing.
•stay away from things you are allergic to, such as:
-dust mites
-some perfumes
• stress management and relaxation techniques to decrease number of flares.
• prevent scratching or rubbing, which irritates the skin, increases swelling and actually increases itchiness. Keep your child's fingernails short to help reduce scratching.Points about atopic dermatitis:
•atopic dermatitis is the most common kind of eczema, a term that describes many kinds of skin problem.
•skin becomes very itchy. Scratching leads to redness, swelling, cracking, clear fluid, crusting and scaling.
•often the skin gets worse (flares), and then it improves or clears up (remissions).
•treatment usually includes medication, proper skin care, and avoiding things that usually cause allergies.
•avoid scratching itchy skin, which only worsen symptoms.
•oral antihistamines may be helpful in breaking the" itch-scratch" cycle.
