You might have often heard people complaining about hypertension or high blood pressure, perhaps because it has become a growing problem. With poor eating habits, work deadlines, stress and what not, people are prone to face such modern lifestyle issues. It can have some serious outcomes on your health. However, with the right measures you can manage it well.

To manage hypertension, you must be aware about some important facts about it.
1. High blood pressure may not show any symptoms
Often referred to as a ‘silent killer’, high blood pressure might not show any obvious symptoms.  And this is why most people feel they are fine and do not get their blood pressure checked.

2. Dementia and high blood pressure might have a link
Studies have shown that if blood pressure is not controlled during midlife, it creates a greater risk of suffering from dementia later in life.

3. High blood pressure is one of the leading causes of death
One out of every five adults suffer from the problems of hypertension. According to various research works, it has been proven that most of the death cases above the age of 50 or 53 are due to hypertension or hypertension-related problems.

4. Hypertensive people have higher risk of suffering from a stroke
People who suffer from hypertension also tend to have a stroke. Around eight out of ten individuals who have high blood pressure issues also suffer from a stroke.

5. Sleep apnea is common in patients with hypertension
Patients who suffer from hypertension are often known to suffer from sleep apnea as well. In this condition, the person suddenly feels short of breath and stops breathing. They even feel drowsy throughout the day.

6. Hypertension is very closely related to heart diseases
Cardiovascular diseases are closely tied to hypertension. People having hypertension are often found to have the problems of atherosclerosis, high cholesterol and are even prone to a heart attack.

High blood pressure can quietly damage your body over the years before showing any symptoms, so make sure you go for regular checkups and take the necessary steps to keep it under control.
