Cosmetic Procedure - Approach To Opt For It

It's my pleasure to speak to you and I am going to speak about something which is very basic, basic in terms of understanding as to what should be your approach to undergo cosmetic surgery or a cosmetology procedure. Cosmetic surgery is becoming very very popular, with the fears coming down in the minds of the people and the safety of the procedures having been established. Similar is the case with cosmetology treatments. But as you can understand, when things become very prominent in terms of the publicity and the media activities, a lot of unqualified people also jump into the fray. Now for you, the people who want to undergo cosmetic procedures, it is important to identify some things before undergoing a procedure.

The first thing is- you must ask yourself why do you want to undergo a procedure? What is the need for it? Don't undergo a procedure just for the sake of it. There has to be some reason, either the procedure should increase your self-confidence, may help you in a job, may help you in your career or try and take care of some inferiority complex which is there in your mind or it may be just feeling good. But just don't do something which you do because somebody else has done it.

The second important thing to remember is don't compare your face or any other part of your body to somebody else. Suppose you want to get a nose surgery done, don't think that I want to get a nose like this particular actor or actress or I want a face or a facelift and I want to mimic the other person. Because every face is different and there are limitations. What may look good on others may not look good on you.

The third thing is you must understand that cosmetic surgery and plastic surgery are the extensions of the same spectrum. All cosmetic surgeons, genuine cosmetic surgeons are qualified plastic surgeons and that helps them in understanding the tissue handling and so many other things. It is just that they work on beauty rather than on the reconstruction. So, don't try and look for specifically cosmetic surgeons. Look for a person who is good in one, may be good in another as well. In your quest to look only for cosmetic surgeons, you may land up in wrong hands. People who may think tell you that we are cosmetologists, we are cosmetic specialists and there you may just land up in the soup.

The fourth important thing is to understand the background, the credentials of the person, the surgeon to whom you are going for cosmetic surgeries. These surgeries are fine surgeries. These surgeries require required details of understanding of the beauty and your face and the shape of your body. So, you should understand the credentials, you must understand that you must go to only plastic surgeons. Don't go to a physician, a cosmetic physician for your surgery. It is something like would you go for an appendix surgery to an MD, Medicine. You would choose a surgeon for an appendicectomy. Similarly, for a surgery choose a surgeon, not a physician, not a beauty consultant, not a dermatologist, not a cosmetologist. It's a market. You go, nobody will refuse you as a patient. But ultimately, the job will be done by a cosmetic surgeon or by a surgeon.

Now if you are going via somebody, obviously you lose some money. Nothing comes free in this world. So, you tend to save money if you go directly to a surgeon, plastic surgeon or a cosmetic surgeon. Look how many years of experience that person has, how many cases that person has done, how much confidence that person has with analyzing your face, every face is different, everybody is different. So, analyze your problem and then go ahead. The most important thing is the last thing which I want to tell you and that is that all that is cheap is not good. A person who has attained expertise is something, learning over a period of time and doing things again and again and who is passionate about something is bound to charge you a little more.

But ultimately it is the result which matters because you cannot undergo surgery again and again. To prevent complications, you must choose a good surgeon, a good plastic surgeon. Good cosmetic surgeon and good surgeons come with a definite price. You can discuss your problems, if you have shortage of money you discuss with them. Most of us will oblige. But just don't go hopping from one surgeon to another looking for the best deal what they call because ultimately one who does cheap is bound to do some shortcut somewhere. And one more thing which I probably missed was that please check the degrees of the doctors, under whom you are undergoing the treatment. There are so many fake degrees available in the market. You must check. Go for government recognized degrees. MCH is the plastic surgery super specialty degree. You must look for MCH or DNB in plastic surgery, Diplomat of National Board or both. Then there are memberships like I am a member of the Indian Society of Plastic Surgeons, APSI. I am also a board certified, American board satisfied certified surgeon. I am a member of the Aesthetics Society of India. So, all these are added association memberships but my basic degree of MCH and DNB is what makes me different from non-qualified people.
