Myopia is a disorder of the eye in which the object located at far appears blurry whereas the object located near to us appears clearly. Myopia is also known as nearsightedness. The object located at the far appears blurry because in myopia, the light focuses in front of the retina instead of focusing on the retina. The people are not able to see clearly the objects which are located far away due to the focusing of light in front of the retina. Myopia is corrected by using the concave lens. The complications of myopia are cataracts, retinal detachment etc.

The symptoms of myopia are as follows

  • Squinting
  • Blurred objects which are located at far
  • Eye fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Trouble in reading the things which are far

The causes of myopia are as follows

  • Myopia is caused due to spending a lot of time on the computer, television or on mobile phones
