Motherhood is a blessing for every woman, but not all women are able to get pregnant easily. Some women do not get pregnant even after years of married life. This can be very disappointing for the couple. But this does not mean that the chances of getting pregnant are nil. Many women opt for IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) to increase the chances of getting pregnant.

When you are planning for the IVF process, you always keep receiving suggestions about what to do and what not to do. You get plenty of suggestions every day. But you need to remember one point about the IVF process “success is never guaranteed”. Taking extra care can increase the chances of success but it does not guarantee success. Most people say that stress can ruin your IVF chances. But this has always been a point of debate.

Here are 5 things to know about how stress can affect your IVF chances.

  1. Your sleep cycle can cause stress to your body. When you are sleeping less than five hours a day, then it can cause weakness and stress in the long run. When the body is affected, that will, in turn, affect the process of fertility. So, you should always make sure that you get enough sleep and your body gets enough rest.
  2. Emotional eating can affect the process of fertility. When you are stressed, you either eat too much or you eat too little. If you are eating too much, then that will increase your weight. Obesity is one of the major causes for not getting pregnant.
  3. Usually, people consider that eating too much can make them overweight and that will affect pregnancy. But did you ever think about the underweight issue for pregnancy? Yes, when you are eating too little or not eating the right diet, you get stressed out and that will also affect fertility.
  4. Simple exercises or walking is recommended during pregnancy. But when you exercise too much, then that can cause stress to your body. Stress will always affect the chances of pregnancy. A 30 minute walk thrice a week is enough for a pregnant woman.
  5. Many people have a stressful day at work or at home and most consider alcohol as a stress reliever. But during pregnancy, smoking and drinking is a big NO. More than two glasses of alcohol in a week can affect your pregnancy. So, always make sure that you stay away from smoking and alcohol during pregnancy.

Stress and its effects can ruin your chances of pregnancy. So, make sure to control stress. Practice Yoga or meditation to control stress and to increase your IVF success rate.
