Dear Mr. lybrate-user, Feeling depressed for around one year is a long time and its prudent that you seek help now. You should get yourself evaluated by a psychiatrist and get yourself evaluated for depression. Treatment with medications and psychotherapy will help you recover. You should also talk regularly to someone close to vent out your feelings. Start doing some exercise on a daily basis. I do hope that you are able to get over your depression soon. Best wishes.

I used to smoke cigarette s and drink alcohol. Now I have controlled my cigarettes to a single cigarette daily. Used to eat fast foods daily night. I have somewhat irritation feel in my left chest whenever I breathe. I consulted a physician and he verified me replying that you don't have any abnormal issues. U r good to go. But; according to my aspects I feel somewhat error with my life when I breathe. Please recommend me some suggestions so that I can be better out of that pain. I'll be thankful to you.

Have patience and follow the reformed good habits consistently. You may start exercising every day ( go slow if you are beginning afresh ). Eat healthy food ( which are easy to digest ) with more of fruits and vegetables. Once your digestion becomes regular the pain may subside. You may opt for Homeopathy if needed in future.

I am facing my class 12 exams and I am under pressure of expectations. For this reason I wasn't able to attempt my yesterday's paper .my hands began trembling and I was fear stricken .only thought in my mind was about fear of not scoring well. How can I deal with su ch anxiety and stress problem. And due bad childhood experience ,strictness of parents I have started dreading .whole of my body is paining and hands trembling. Negative thoughts come in the way of me learning and I face difficulty concentrating sometime thinking of loneliness as I have no brother and no friends. I live alone all by myself and get bored as my parents are both teacher a I am alone in home during daytime.

Read book thoroughly without shortcut methods, automatically you will score good marks. At the same time you should not blame teachers & parents .follow the correct procedure in learning in maths formula is important without applying formula we won't get answer .avoid spicy items drink plenty of natural juice wake up in early morning & go to the bed earlier. I am thinking that m suffering from depression. Slowness in work n speech. L lack of conectartation sometimes I couldn't understand what the person is saying to me. Thoughts of finishing life. Getting so much tensed in little things n bcz of anxiety n tensn I make mistakes. Hard to take decisions even small decisions are hard for me. I feel vry frustrated n unhappy .jst hopeless life. There are two incidence in my life after that I hv become like these. headache n sleeping prbm is also. I get so much tensed when I surrounded with people even with my friends also n want to sit Alone. Please help me even I couldn't concentrate at workplace also n this is creating so many problem in my daily life.

Dear Ms. lybrate-user, I went through your query in detail and can understand what you must be going through in life. The symptoms that you have mentioned are definitely suggestive of depression. Feeling tired, lack of concentration, feeling sad, anxiety, sleep disturbances, headache are all symptoms of depression. You should consider getting yourself evaluated by a psychiatrist and accordingly initiate treatment. Medications ad psychotherapy will help you in getting over your symptoms and recover from depression. Although you have not mentioned details about the particular incidents, I am sure talking about them to your psychiatrist will help. Talk to someone close daily to vent out your feelings. You can also consider writing a diary daily. Start exercising daily. I do hope that you are soon able to recover from your symptoms. Best wishes.

Keep th light and doors open while sleeping do 1.no alcohol 2. Reduce body wt 3. No smoking/ tobacco 4. Diet - no ghee/ butter, have mix of vegetable oils - mustard, til, ground nut, olive oil, have more green vegetables and fruits, have whole grain atta, no fried. Fast. Spicy / processed/ junk food. Less sugar, potato, rice 5. 30 mts brisk walk daily 6. Deep breathing exercise for 10 mts daily 7. Meditation daily for 10 mts. 6-8 hrs of sleep at night 8. Expose your body to sun for 15-20 mts daily after some oil massage to get vit d. 9. Take more water for medicine contact on private chat.

It is natural to feel low and miss the person you have lost. However if it is interfering with your sleep, studies or general well being, or if you feel suicidal, you need to consult a psychiatrist. It is common to feel low, cry, feel like you are alone, or lose your self confidence. Usually time is the best healer. However if things are too difficult to handle you should talk to a psychiatrist or counselor. Confide in someone close to you, who will support you in this difficult time. Don't cut off from friends or family, even if you feel like you want to be alone.

And if we are not supporting him he blackmail us that he commit suicide or all this type of things which is not natural and he don't know that he is suffering from depression approx from 5 years my dad gives med for depression he only consult the doc is there really a treatment for rid of this.

Yes, there is treatment and since he is young the prognosis is good. However, I am concerned that he may not have a depression only and could have a bipolar disorder. In which case the medical treatment has to be geared for that disorder. He will also need to go for regular counseling along with the medication. He should also check blood lithium levels and take these results to a psychiatrist. You must make sure that the person cooperates because many times they do not believe that there is something wrong and would love to quit the medication. Complying with all the medical prescriptions and working in tandem with a counselor for a long time and learning coping skills and techniques to handle the daily challenges the person will face is very important. There are certain adaptations that will suit him during the elation phase and there are certain behaviors that are required during the depressed phases. In the meantime he can do certain things that will give him benefits anyway. Emotional therapy will alleviate a lot of the problems faced in this condition because it is a mood disorder. He needs to particularly look at his levels of anger both for its reasonableness and to express it in appropriate manner. I suspect that much of this anger may have origins in early childhood that he may never be aware of it now. Let him talk to your parents and explore that angle. This information will help the counselor too. Also he will need to check whether there is any genetic factor involved. He must exercise regularly, eat healthily and sleep normally too. If his motivation and cooperation is good much can be achieved. He must have a time-structured schedule filled with interesting and reasonable activities and it must be monitored for compliance and delivery. The reason I say this is that many times he will be inclined to have grandiose notions and confidently believe that he can do without the medication. This will set him back many months in the treatment and delay and sabotage the recovery: forewarned he is forearmed. If this combination of medication with therapy is maintained for at least three years without any episodes or breakdowns, it is possible to taper the medication in consonance with the doctor. Bipolar is characterized by two extreme poles i.e. Feeling very high (mania) and suddenly feeling very low (depression). You can ask the doctor for the symptoms he noticed in him for a personal understanding. His suicide threats must not be ignored and some day he could act out of an impulse. Inform the doctor about this too.

Hi Last month I tried to commit suicide by having 40 sleeping pills and 6 pain killer. My hubby saw me after 4 hr n took me to hospital. There doc cleaned my stomach and started iv. Now I'm feeling too much head ache I'm not able to bare it. Wat can it be.

I am 30 and I think I am facing memory issues. I used to think that I have bad memory and started noticing things more consciously to remember it but now, I feel like things sometimes just get deleted from my memory. Even reminding me related to other co-related incidences does not work sometimes. Sometimes I think it is not usual. My brother 30 year old, addicted to drink ,everyday he drinks n behaves in a different way like scolding everyone in the family for no reason ,sometimes quarrels or sometimes breaks everything in the house if anyone scolds r asks him. Or sometimes he harms himself in deep frustration like cuts himself with knife or blade etc. And morning he behaves normal and says that he do not remember anything what he has done at night. Excess alcohol dependence is psychological problem. Only strong will power, determination, attending AA meetings and diverting mind when tempted will help you stop alcohol or may need professional help from a psychiatrist or de addiction centre. Try to do meditation and yoga. Read good books and listen to music and if you are believer attend Bhajans Alcohol causes 7 types of cancer, including breast, mouth and bowel cancers. When you drink alcohol, cancer-causing chemicals are formed. Alcohol also affects hormone levels and makes cells even more likely to be damaged by smoking. The less alcohol you drink, the lower the risk of cancer. No type of alcohol is better or worse than another, it is the alcohol itself that leads to the damage, regardless of whether it is in wine, beer or spirits. And drinking and smoking together are even worse for you. Not everyone who drinks alcohol will develop cancer. But on the whole, scientists have found that some cancers are more common in people who drink more alcohol than others. Every year, alcohol causes 4% of cancers .Tips to cut down on alcohol. There are lots of simple ways to cut down on the amount of alcohol you drink. It can help to work out if there are particular times or situations when you tend to have a drink, whether that’s a bad day at work or a weekly pub quiz tradition, and plan what you’ll say and do differently next time. Have more alcohol-free days a week. For liver health it’s best to have at least 2 days off alcohol in a row each week. Try agreeing on certain days with your partner or a friend and help each some wi other and stick to it. If you are planning to drink alcohol, decide on a limit in advance and make sure you don’t go over it. Swap every other alcoholic drink for a soft one – starting with your first drink. Try shandy instead of a pint of beer, or swap ne for soda and have a spritzer. Don’t stock up on beer, wine or spirits at home. Finish one drink before pouring another, because topping up drinks makes it harder to keep track of how much you’ve had and when you planned to stop. Avoid buying drinks in rounds, that way you don’t have to keep pace with anyone. Tell a friend or partner that you’re cutting down on alcohol, they can support you – or even join you.
