How to strengthen gums at the age 78 years in order to go for permanent teeth implant.
To place dental implants, adequate bone height is required along with good healthy gums. Bone height can be surgically increased using bone grafts. Visit an implantologist for a detailed evaluation who ll further guide you hw to manage your gums prior implant surgery. Meanwhile get scalling done by dentist. Use proper brushing techniques. Brush, floss n use mouthwash twice daily. Massage your gums with your finger tips after brushing. Keep your tongue clean. Rinse your mouth well after each meal.

I am on prednisolone 30 mg every other day and Azathioprine 50 mg Morning and 100 mg evening to manage polymyositis. I am suffering from cavity and pain in my first molar right lower jaw since 15 for fifteen days and radiate to my right ear and feeling constant pain inside my ear. I took paracetamol 500 mg and then acetofenac 100 mg for pain at night and 100 mg acetofenac in the morning to get relief. I noticed some blood inside of my ear at night which I cleaned with cotton buds and there is no more blood noticed after that but I felt great after that. Now I want to know if I can take some antibiotics to fight this infection if yes, then what antibiotic should I take, what should be the appropriate dose, what should be the frequency and duration of the treatment along with painkillers.

You may have got ear infection which is aggravated or may be overlapped with your tooth related pain. You have to be sure about your problem so that proper treatment can be sought without any delay. You need to visit an ENT specialist first then to a dentist. Tooth related pain can be corrected based on 3 treatment options, that is restoration/ fillings, RCT or extraction. Improper use of antibiotics can lead to more severe infections which will cost more time energy and money. So act wisely.

My dentist said to take diclomol pain killer one hour before initiation of dental flap surgery. I read a pain killer could induce heavy blood flow if taken before surgery. I am seeking for a second opinion regarding this. Is it fine to take diclomol pain killer 1 hour before surgery? Thanks doc.

My dentist said to take diclomol pain killer one hour before initiation of dental flap surgery. I read a pain killer ...
Don't worry, pain killer are primarily used only for relieving pain. Yes they can cause increased bleeding but not in just single dose. There are multiple side effects of pain killers but they are primarily related to prolonged use. Asking patient to take a pain killer before any surgery is usually a routine procedure or you may call it a protocol. It helps reduce pain during the procedure, alleviate anxiety and relax patient. One more suggestion, it's nothing wrong in taking second opinion but it is also important to trust your doctor and discuss with him/her your fears and questions instead of doubting his/her decisions. I am sure your doctor will be very happy to answer all your questions. All the best for your surgery, wish you a speedy recovery:)

Patients with an identifiable cause of bad breath e.g., periodontal (gum) disease, gingivitis, postnasal drip, systemic illness can be treated for these conditions.
Many cases of bad breath may be readily alleviated by:
Proper dental care and oral hygiene, including daily flossing.
Gentle cleaning of the posterior portion of the dorsum of tongue (e.g., with a plastic tongue cleaner).
Rinsing and deep gargling with an effective mouthwash (in order to get the liquid as far back as possible without swallowing it, one can extend the tongue while gargling). This is most effective when done at bedtime.
Eating fibrous foods (a healthy breakfast is recommended).
Chewing gum briefly (5 minutes is often sufficient) if the mouth is dry, or after meals, especially with high protein intake. Sugar-free gum is preferable.
Sufficient water intake.
Decreasing alcohol and coffee intake.
