Hello, If this is happening for the first time, then no need to worry about it. But if it's there for a very long time then you should undergo few investigations. Medication: Start with Hamamelis Q/ 10 drops in 1/2 cup of water/ after every 2 hrs. during heavy bleeding.

Why You Should Not Ignore Blood in Semen?

Why You Should Not Ignore Blood in Semen?

Anyone who tells you that blood in your semen or Haemospermia is normal, he/she is wrong. No, it is not normal. In fact, blood coming out of any part of your body can in no way be normal. We often hear some patients say that the doctors they have consulted before, about this very crucial problem, regarded it as not serious. Neglecting blood in your semen is a very bad idea. It will not go away without proper treatment. On the other hand, addressing it at the earliest will help cure the problem completely.

Here is where the role of Ayurveda and Ayurvedic Medical Experts becomes extremely important.
Causes of Blood in Semen:
What is causing you Haemospermia or as per Ayurveda, dooshita shukra? Here are a few causes that are influencing the condition-

  1. Inflammation and infections: Inflammations and infections cause the most common threat to your semen. Infection in any of the tubes, ducts or glands, such as Prostate, Urethra, Seminal Vesicles, Vas Deferens and Epididymis, etc. can become the cause of blood in semen.
  2. Sexually transmitted infection: Other bacterial infections along with sexually transmitted infections, such as Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea are also potent threats to your semen. 40% of the times, it is these kinds of infections that lead to blood in your semen.
  3. Forced sexual activity: Though not much discussed, any forced sexual activity might also influence the condition. This kind of activity irritates the pubic region and can also form the cause of genital tract infection, leading to blood in your semen.
  4. A recent medical procedure: One of the most common occurrences of blood in the semen is noticed post a medical procedure. Examples of medical procedures that lead to blood in semen include prostate biopsy, any urinary treatment, etc. These treatments cause temporary trauma to the semen for a short span of time, leading to ejaculation of blood along with it.

Other major causes that can influence the accompaniment of blood with your semen are internal obstructions, Polyps or Tumours, Blood Vessel Problems, etc. Ayurveda is an effective treatment for Haemospermia.
There are some ancillary effects of blood in the semen. Some of these effects include

  • Burning sensation while urinating,
  • Pain in the lower back,
  • Painful ejaculation,
  • Fever
  • Tenderness of the area around the groin,
  • Swelling of the testes,
  • Tenderness of the scrotum, etc.

All these side-effects can be dealt with while addressing the main issue of blood in the semen, with the help of proper Ayurvedic treatment and diet. Apart from practicing pranayama (shitkari/shitali) as a part of your Ayurvedic treatment, it is also important to consult an expert and get yourself diagnosed. This will help you find the best Ayurvedic herbs for your aid. You can also opt for the very famous and much trusted male infertility - complete sperm care package. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Sexologist.

Will I be pregnant? If yes, then what should I do to prevent it? My boyfriend and I didn't have sex but his condom came out while I was rubbing his penis on my clit but it wasn't erect and neither did he ejaculate. Though I had ejaculated that time. So I am worried that I'll be pregnant. Please clear my doubts and help me. If I will be should I consume an emergency contraceptive pill or not? This happened on 25th December, 2016. I have my periods either in 28 days or sometimes 30. Last time I had in 30 days and before that in 28 days. This Friday i.e. 30th December will be my 28th day and 1st January, 2017 will be my 30th day. So, if I'm not pregnant my periods will start this week, right? If it is a little late by a few days, it won't mean na that I'm pregnant? Because I'm kinda of stressed out right now. If I get plmy periods this week or a little late (by a few days) I don't need to take home pregnancy test na? My boyfriend said that I don't need to worry because he did not ejaculate and neither his penis was erect. His penis had I guess hardly touched my clit after the condom was out. I'm not sure of that either as we had freaked out that time. Please help me. I have a lot of confusion and Internet just increases them. Please provide me correct explanation and solution.

Me and my husband planning for baby. But on recent checkup we come to know, I have PCOD (polycystic syndrome ovaries)...
Please note you can repeat your husband's semen analysis from another lab also, if that report also says azoospermia, then you have to go for surgical extraction of sperms (TESA/ PESA. Regarding Pcod it is sometimes genetic also, so do not worry. With Pcos there is anovulation or delayed anovulation so we need to give medicines for ovulation. Have you done your hormonal tests like Serum prolactin, Serum TSH and Serum Fasting Insulin Levels.

How many days we can still wait for labour pains after the expected date of delivery? Please advice.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Gurgaon
How many days we can still wait for labour pains after the expected date of delivery? Please advice.
Hi . We can wait upto 1 week after the expected delivery date for labour pains to start on their own but that has some risks involved. Waiting after the dates can result in decreased liquor of the baby, causing stress to baby, which in turn will make the baby pass stool in uterus, if the baby inhales the stool then she will having lung infections, will not cry after birth and may need nicu admission. I usually do not wait beyond 2-3 days after crossing the dates for this very reason. I suggest you visit your doctor and get the baby examined by nst (non stress test) and ultrasound to see for liquor. If both are fine you can wait for 2 days. These tests need to be done alternate day after the expected dates to ensure that the baby is doing well inside. Your doctor will advise the best after seeing the reports. Hope this information has helped you. All the best.

Small lacerations are possible during first few months of intercourse. They cause burning sensation for couple of days. But they also heal quickly without medication. You may use lubricated condoms if the natural secretions are not adequate.

If you miss your periods more than 7 days after the expected date, then go for urine pregnancy home test. So you cannot confirm pregnancy before 11 july. Meanwhile the mid cycle bleeding which may be a breakthrough or due to polyp/fibroid/erosion, indicates that it may not be pregnancy this time. In fact if you want too do pregnancy test now it should be after 24 july if the period get delayed till then. An ultrasound will give a better picture along with a gyn exam.

Body Odour - How It Indicates Your Health?

MBBS, MD - Dermatology
Dermatologist, Chennai
Body Odour - How It Indicates Your Health?

Everyone is familiar with the causes of body odor from sweat. Sweat itself does not have any odor; it is when it interacts with bacteria (underarm pits or groins), the sweat gives out a body odor. Although body odor brings a downslide during social interactions, the sources of body odor can be more serious than a person might consider and may not go away with regular baths or by applying deodorants. The article discusses a few sources of body odor other than sweat.

The Fish Odour Syndrome

Trimethylaminuria (TMAU) is a common body odor disease due to a genetic disorder. It is also commonly known as the fish odor syndrome and might be inherited in nature. The rare metabolic disorder does not allow the production of Flavin-containing Monooxygenase 3 (FMO3), an enzyme which generally converts trimethylamine (TMA) into trimethylamine oxide (TMAO) by the process of N-oxidation. This results in building up of TMA, which releases a fish odor smell through sweat and mouth. TMAU can be treated naturally in the following ways –

  1. Keeping distance from foods, which have choline, carnitine, nitrogen and sulphur. For example, salt-water fish, eggs, etc.
  2. Reducing the doses of antibiotics taken.
  3. A medical study also suggested that in 85% of the cases, taking in charcoal or copper chlorophyllin helped to reduce the body odor.

There is also secondary trimethylaminuria (TMAU2), a type of TMAU where it is not hereditary.

Rotten Apple Smell

Diabetic ketoacidosis is a diabetic disease when untreated. When the body is not able to compose enough insulin, there is a metabolic disorder which makes the body burn or break down excess fat for fuel. This causes the person to exhale breath with a sweet but disgusting aroma similar to the smell of rotten or decomposing apples. This is the reason why doctors, specializing in body odor, ask the patients to go for a urine or blood test, to determine whether the patient has diabetesTreating diabetic ketoacidosis is same as managing teeth disorder –

  1. Brushing teeth regularly and flossing daily.
  2. Drinking plenty of water to keep the mouth moist.
  3. Following all the medical prescriptions to regulate the sugar level of the body as given by the doctor.

Stress Disorders

It is also reported by medical clinics that body odor can result from emotional stress disorders causing excessive perspiration. It is common among teenagers who are in the phase of developing hormones.

Conclusion

A man or woman who is looking completely healthy and fit from the outside can too have body odor disorders. This will affect their social relationships, and so it is always better to seek advice from the specialists so that effective actions can be undertaken as soon as possible. A doctor can prescribe appropriate medication and advise some natural measures to restrain the problem. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Dermatologist.
