Quadriceps strengthening exercises- Quad Clenches: Lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, Hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short Arcs: Lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight Leg Raise: Lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise. Hamstring stretching Towel Hamstring Stretch Lie on the back, supporting the thigh with the hand or with a towel wrapped around it.. Slowly straighten the knee until a stretch is felt in the back of the thigh, trying to get the bottom of the foot to face the ceiling, one leg at a time. Hold the position initially for 10 seconds, and gradually work up to 20 to 30 seconds. Seated Hamstring Stretch While sitting at the edge of a chair, straighten one leg in front of the body with the heel on the floor. Then, sit up straight and try pushing the navel towards the thigh without leaning the trunk of the body forwards. Hold this stretch for 30 seconds Repeat 3 times for each leg.

You need to create time in the morning by waking up early or skipping whatever else you are doing and fit in the exercise regimen. If you exercise in the morning, you feed into the biorhythm and will find your entire day cheerful and fruitful. Regarding smoking please follow these instructions meticulously: When quitting, you must take one day at a time; though you must give up all smoking at once, and promptly. If you look too far ahead you will get discouraged and will give up. If you sit and count the number of days you have given up, that will also focus too much on achievement. You must focus on the here and now, on that day to be precise. After all quitting is not that easy due to many factors. So even if you fail one day, you must try and try again. Very few people succeed in their first attempt. Your persistence will eventually pay off. The urge to discontinue is hampered by many factors but the worst of them is the conditioning. In fact these conditions can exist all through the day unlike other addictions. But your desire to want to stop is the most important factor. It is important to find out about the ill-effects of smoking to have a reason that alarms you about continuing in the habit. The information is really scary but true and you must remind yourself about this every day. The nicotine in tobacco smoke stimulates the heart beat to raise the blood pressure in no time at all. So you must avoid it like the plague: it is just very bad medicine for you. In fact it is highly toxic too. You will need to stop smoking or consuming any tobacco related items with immediate effect. You should start vigorous exercises, gradually increasing it over a period of time. Do deep breathing exercises every time you feel like smoking (try Yoga), and replace the oral urge with some healthy food substitute to satiate the need. You may also take hard candy or chewing gum. If the urge is too strong, then use nicotine gums and nicotine patches, for a little while until the smoking drive reduces, substantially. You may also join Smokers Anonymous in your city where the support is really extraordinary for like-minded people who are also in the same situation. Keep yourself occupied or engaged with interesting activities during the times when it is most tempting. Keep the company of non-smokers for some time i.e. at least for the first 21 days. Above all announce it to everyone that you have quit smoking. Here’s a piece of very good advice: even if you accidentally/willfully take a cigarette, it is not the end of the world – you can start the cessation all over again. You must persevere with the best support until you defeat this addiction. Counseling is very useful in the initial stages and when temptations are at their highest.

Dear sir, as you are 70yrs old and having back pain, i only suggest you to take a walk early morning for about 10 mins. apply diclofenac ointment for pain following with heat therapy. with little back strengthening excercises your pain will reduce. try to maintain correct posture.

Hi. Let me tell you about hairfall. In layman's language, hairfall can be divided into 2 types - temporary hairfall and permanent (which is called as 'Hairloss' rather). In temporary hairfall, hair grows back again from the same hair root, but in case of permanent hairloss, may be because of formation of DHT (Di- Hydro -Testosterone) around hair root it gets choked up, subsequently affects the blood supply to the hair and thus hair root is lost forever. (There are different pattern and types of hairloss, because of different reasons like Alopecia Areata, Telogen Effluvium, Scarring Alopecia, Traction Alopecia, etc.) Causes of hairloss: Many factors are responsible formation of this DHT or male/ female pattern baldness - hereditary, post-illness/ ailment, post-delivery, post- chemotherapy, nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalance, insufficient sleep, sudden loss of weight, stress/ tensions/ excessive anger, use of bore water, any other underlying diseases, etc. Management: Take diet rich in protein like non-veg., eggs, pulses, legumes, sprouts, nuts (sp. walnut and almonds), iron-rich food like green vegetables, also take flaxseeds, green tea, soyabean, fruits, salads, etc. Take proper 6-9hrs of sound sleep. Give up the habit of smoking and excessive alcohol intake. Avoid junk food and any kind of beverages (tea, coffee, aerated drinks, cold drinks, etc.) Avoid canned/ tinned food or food that contains preservatives (eat fresh ones). Avoid use of hard water to wash the head rather use boiled water for head wash. Avoid use of harsh hair colour, hair treatment like rebonding, straightening, perming, etc. Avoid vigorous exercises or any supplements provided by the gym! Use Rose wood/ any wooden hair comb to brush your hair. Regular exercising is also one of the important point, but should be done under some good, qualified yoga teacher or instructor for proper guidance; it also releases the stress/ tension in the mind and the body and keeps you FIT and YOUNG!! Medication: Take homoeopathic Rx - Schwabe's Wiesbaden 200 & Alfalfa Tonic twice a day for 1 month and revert. Also, use Schwabe's Arnica shampoo and Hair Growth oil regularly as per the condition of your scalp (minimum 3 times a week). After shampooing, use Bakson's Arnica Hair conditioner as well after every head wash. Apart from thistake Follihair tablets (multivitamin) - 1 tab. daily once for 1 month. (N.B.: With the help of homoeopathic medicines, we can only prevent further progress of the hairloss, means it will get arrests in the present condition in case of progressive baldness. But, in case there are areas of baldness which has gone smooth and shiny, you will have to choose an option of Hair Transplant along with theses medications!). Investigations advised: Get your blood tested for (empty stomach) - CBC, S. Iron, S. Folic acid, S. Ferritin, S. Calcium, S. Vitamin D3, S. Vitamin B12. If there is any family history of Thyroid dysfunction, get Thyroid function test done as well.

If no relief do blood examination like esr, cbc, widal/ typhidot test, blood for mp/malaria antigen, dengue antigen (ns1) test, urine re/me, x ray chest after consulting physician and follow the advice and treatment.

Hi Take brahmi vati...smriti sagar ras and praval panchamrit..make its powder and mix it.....then take these medicines with honey twice a day...1-1 drop of cow ghee in both nostrils at night time before sleep....do pranayama early morning for freshness..avoid oily food...junk food.....avoid alcohol consumption...eat green vegetables.........walk for at least 45 minutes a day

A dry, flaky scalp can be the result of a number of conditions. Psoriasis, eczema, poor nutrition, dehydration and too much shampoo are just a few of factors that contribute to poor scalp health. By making some simple changes, or adding home remedy or two, you can take your scalp from parched and irritated to smooth and soft with a headful of healthy hair. Homoeopathic treatment A.C.4 ( Bakson) chew 1 tab 3 times daily ANTI DANDRUFF OIL ( Wilmar schwabe India) Apply atleast once weekly.Leave overnight Anti Dandruff Shampoo ( Wilmar Schwabe india) Diet Take lots of water daily Avoid cold drinks,junk nd fast ,fried food Take nutritious diet Exercise regularily Getting Rid of Dry Scalp Step 1 Use less shampoo. If you use too much shampoo, you increase the chances that residue will be left behind .Failure to thoroughly rinse out Shampoo of the hair causes scalp irritation and flakiness. Step 2 Exfoliate your scalp. Getting rid of dry, dead skin cells is just as good for your dry scalp as it is for your face. Mix a tablespoon or two of sugar with your shampoo and gently work it into your scalp with the pads of your fingers. Avoid using your fingernails when lathering up, which can cause nicks or cuts. Step 3 Avoid extremely hot water. Hot water can dry out the skin and aggravate a dry, flaky scalp. The same is true for heat styling products such as a blow-dryer. Excessive heat can cause the scalp to become irritated and dry. Step 4 Give yourself a scalp massage. A scalp massage causes blood to flow to the scalp, and helps clear any blocked pores that may be interfering with sebum production. Sebum is the oil produced in the sebaceous glands of the scalp. Massaging the scalp also loosens excess dead skin and dandruff, making it easier to wash away. Give yourself a scalp massage before or during your shampoo, or even when you're relaxing in front of the TV. Putting olive oil on your fingertips before the massage gives your scalp added benefits. After the massage, continue with an olive oil treatment. Step 5 Apply an olive oil treatment to the scalp. Dip your fingers into olive oil. Apply the oil to your scalp, using gentle circular motions. Cover the entire scalp, but not the length of the hair. Once the scalp is covered with oil, cover the head with plastic wrap or a shower cap. Cover the plastic wrap with a warm towel, and leave on for 45 minutes. Rinse well with lukewarm water, then shampoo as usual. If you condition your hair after the shampoo, do not apply conditioner to the scalp. Instead, apply conditioner starting 1 inch from the scalp and down to the ends. Things You'll Need • Sugar • Olive oil • Bowl • Plastic wrap or plastic shower cap • Towel • Anti Dandruff Shampoo ( Wilmar Schwabe india) • HAIR CONDITIONER ( BAKSON) NOTE –Please go for ANTI DANRUFF OIL TREATMENT and OLIVE OIL TREATMENT once each in a week. Apple cider vinegar is anti-inflammatory in nature and is also great for restoring the pH balance of the scalp, which is another reason for using this as an excellent treatment for dry, flaky scalp. Take apple cider vinegar and dilute it with some water. This has to be applied on the scalp and left on for half an hour. • With constant application, apple cider vinegar will remove the pH imbalance in the scalp and also the dead and accumulated cells as well. This will also aid in better hair growth and prevent hair fall due to dry scalp. Apple cider vinegar also makes your hair shiny and smooth. Apple cider vinegar can also be applied without dilution if your skin is not over sensitive.

Hello, You Hb levels should atleast be 12 to 15. Cook all your food in iron vessels. Beans, dried fruits, green veg, Non-veg items are some good sources of iron. Remember you also need to high protein diet that will work along iron. Vitamin C doses are equally important and so is water.

knee Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams Stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. repeat 10 times, twice a day. Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. hip Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily. Bhujang asana. Core strengthening exercises. Back stretchingstretch do the cat/cow avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Apply hot fomentation. .

Hello, I am 27 years old unmarried guy. My thyroid profile tests are as follows. 27 June 2015: Results are: T3 Serum = 2.09 nmol/L (Method: ECLIA), T4 Serum = 104.00 nmol/L (Method: ECLIA) and TSH Serum = 5.430 uIU/mL (Method: ECLIA).(After 5 months. 30 Nov 2015: Results are: T3 Serum = 1.16 ng/mL (Method: CLIA), T4 Serum = 9.30 ng/dL (Method: CLIA), TSH Serum = 9.52 uIU/mL (Method: CLIA) and ANTI TPO= 583.20 U/mL. Took Eltroxin (25mg) for 4 months regularly. 22 April 2016 (Method: ChemiluminescenceMicroparticle Immunoassay): Results are: T3 = 102.0 ng/dL (Method: CLIA), T4 = 6.29 ug/dL (Method: CLIA) and TSH - Ultrasensitive, serum by CMIA = 3.84 uIU/mL. Is everything fine with my thyroid? Shall I need to change my medication? Is there any chance I can get rid of this tablet ever in my life? Thank you:)

Mr. Lybrate-user, you seem to have hashimoto's thyroiditis, an autoimmune disease, where there are anti bodies produced against thyroid peroxidase enzyme. This results in destruction of thyroxine secreting cells. Resulting deficiency of thyroxine and hypothyroidism. This needs to be treated with thyroxine tablets and treatment has to continue for life time. There is no option, if you do stop, then there can be reappearance of all the symptoms of hypothyroidism.
