I have red eyes for over 10 days. I am very upset. What should I do? please help me sir.
Hello, Bloodshot eyes appear red because the vessels at the surface of the white portion of the eye become swollen. Vessels may swell due to: Eye dryness Too much sun exposure Dust or other particles in the eye Allergies Infection Injury Eye infections or inflammation can cause redness as well as possible itching, discharge, pain, or vision problems. Other causes of eye redness include Colds or allergies, Acute glaucoma, Corneal scratches: Injuries caused by sand, dust, or overuse of contact lenses. Sometimes, a bright red spot, called a subconjunctival hemorrhage, will appear on the white of the eye. This often happens after straining or coughing, which causes a broken blood vessel on the surface of the eye. Most often, there is no pain and your vision is normal. It is almost never a serious problem. Because the blood leaks into the conjunctiva, which is clear, you cannot wipe or rinse the blood away. Like a bruise, the red spot will go away within a week or two. Management: - Try to rest your eyes if redness is due to fatigue or eye strain. No other treatment is needed. - Wash your hands, hold clean water in your hand, keep your eyes closer to the water and dip the eyes by blinking the eyelids frequently in the held water in hand. Repeat it for 3-4 times again. - Avoid watching T. V. Working on computer or mobile, reading or frequently keep blinking your eyes to avoid dryness. Take frequent breaks in between. - In case there is itching, use a clean napkin or a tissue to wipe the tears and cleaning the eyelids gently. -Wear an UV-rays protected sunglasses while you are out in sun. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines - Schwabe’s Belladonna 30 and Euphrasia 30 - both thrice daily for 4 days. Use Euphrasia Eye drops twice daily. Revert back thereafter.

Hello, its not inappropriate to say that technology is taking a toll on our health these days. Your problem is shared by many people in your age group especially those using screens (mobile n computers) for more than 6-7 hrs a day. The eye ache and discomfort is caused mainly due to dryness (due to high tear evaporation rate in screen users), refractive errors, muscle weakness and spasm. As in your case its good you are using antiglare glasses while working, please do continue it. Try and lessen the screen time if possible. Take balanced diet with more green vegetables and fruits. You can also start with a multivitamin supplement and cod liver oil capsules (if non vegetarian you can have 2 serves of fish per week). Go for some tear substitute eye drops and use it on regular basis. Take a break of 10 sec (close eyes or look farthest) every half hour while working on screens, in order to relive exhausted muscles. Take care.

Hello sir / mam Am rahul and am suffering from irritation on my eyes while working in computer and using mobile phone.
The solution for this problem is its reduced usage and while using computor/mobile use in proper light. There is nothing more effective than controlling usage to reduce and negate the effects. You can also reduce the intensity of the computor/mobile screen by attaching a filter or by getting an eye-friendly screen. Above all, one must try to reduce the amount of computor/mobile usage or take frequent breaks. Homoeopathic medicine CINELUBE EYE DROPS ( HAPDCO) Pour 2 drops 3 times daily.

Hello, get your eyes tested from an opthalmologist. Include the following for getting better vision: vitamins a, c, e, and minerals like copper and zinc are essential to eyesight. Get the antioxidants from dark leafy greens, egg yolks, yellow peppers, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and carrots. Include garlic and onions. Blueberries, grapes as they have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can help improve your vision. Dha is a fatty acid found in coldwater fish like salmon, sardines and mackerel. Exercises for strengthening eye muscles: -begin by partially closing your eyes; the lids should only be halfway shut. After holding for 10-15 seconds, close your eyes very slowly. Take a few deep breaths to increase oxygen in the blood. -warm your eyes. Rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times. -hold a pen at arm's length. Focus your gaze on the tip of the pen. Bring the pen closer to your nose at a slow and steady pace. Repeat this exercise 5-10 times. -concentrate your vision on the tip of your nose. Then shift your gaze to an object further away, either at arm's length or 20 feet away. Then shift your eyes back to the tip of your nose. Repeat this exercise 10 times. -sit in a relaxed but upright position. Begin by look to the left-most position (without moving your head) and hold to stretch your eye muscles. Hold for 5 counts. Blink and return your gaze back to look straight in front of you. Then look to the right-most position with your gaze and hold for 5 counts. Repeat 3 times, blinking between each hold. Then, repeat this exercise looking up and then down. Do not forget about blinking. -sit in a relaxed but upright position. Look up and to your right for 5 seconds. Return your gaze to center. Look up to and to your left for 5 seconds. Return your gaze to center. Look down and to your right for 5 seconds. Insufficient sleep may weaken your vision, so shoot for 8 hours of sound sleep a night. Medication: take homoeopathic medicine which will help you in preventing first and then reducing the power of your eyes (if the eye power is less). Take physostigma 6/ thrice daily for 4-6 months and instill euphrasia eye drops twice a day. Thereafter, revert back for further guidance.

There are some guidelines for insomnia or in ability to sleep. Avoid stimulating food and drinks 2-4 hours before bedtime. Eg. Tea, coffee, cold drinks. Don't do mentally stimulating work before bedtime- solving puzzles, playing interesting mobile games. Recent studies stay the high exposure to screens has disrupted our natural circadian rhythm. Using blue light in mobiles and other devices decreases this effect. Ensure adequate physical work during day. Learn to deal with stress. Stress and anxiety can be major detergent to sleep. I have red eyes whenever I sleep late at night and have white eyes whenever I sleep in day.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
I have red eyes whenever I sleep late at night and have white eyes whenever I sleep in day.
Eyes appear red because the vessels at the surface of the white portion of the eye (sclera) become swollen. Vessels may swell due to: • Eye dryness • Too much sun exposure • Dust or other particles in the eye • Allergies • Infection • Injury Eye infections or inflammation can cause redness as well as possible itching, discharge, pain, or vision problems. These may be due to: • Blepharitis: Swelling along the edge of the eyelid. • Conjunctivitis: Swelling or infection of the clear tissue that lines the eyelids and covers the surface of the eye (the conjunctiva). This is often referred to as "pink eye." • Corneal ulcers: Sores on the cornea most often caused by a serious bacterial or viral infection. • Uveitis: Inflammation of the uvea, which includes the iris, ciliary body, and choroid. The cause is most often not known. It may be related to an autoimmune disorder, infection, or exposure to toxins. The type of uveitis that causes the worst red eye is called iritis, in which only the iris is inflamed. Other potential causes of eye redness include: • Colds or allergies . • Acute glaucoma: A sudden increase in eye pressure that is extremely painful and causes serious visual problems. This is a medical emergency. The more common form of glaucoma is chronic and gradual. • Corneal scratches: Injuries caused by sand, dust, or overuse of contact lenses. So,visit a local eyespecialist. The diagnosis of your problem in eyes can only be made by local examination of eyes

Hello lybrate-user. When you go for an eye check up, it involves checking the eye by various methods. One of these various methods is slit lamp examination. I am sure your eye specialist must have examined the eyes using other techniques as well. Thus, to detect latent nystagmus, it is not necessary to check on the slit lamp. It can be done using simple torch light evaluation also.
